What is he playing with?

I never see my dd playing with anything. She just float here float there, figuratively

I think school plans lots of activities for them to keep the kids meaningfully occupied

Haha, my dd also, didn't see her play. Instead, she also float here, float there. Sometimes, dreaming, dreaming and dreaming away and takes very long to finish her meals :slapshead:

This must be a girl's thing. Floating

She takes a long time to shower, condition her frizzy hair, comb nicely, apply lotion etc. Slowly tower dry, choose her home wear for the day. Wah, easily an hour just to get the above done

Basically everything does in slow motion and time idles away

Just to share, I think getting the elder kid to coach the younger one is more effective than any tutor.

Tried that before SA1. It worked (like a dream surprisingly) and I only resorted to that because I was desperate. All those Science OE questions are beyond me.

My kids have different Science teachers but the school syllabus (topics) is the same.

My dd1 isn't very patient either and she's super busy. That's why must endure a bit of impatient comments but her advice is valuable, she told dd2 what to look out for in those topics to be tested and tune dd2's almost non-existence answering techniques.

That is the target learning I'm looking for. To zoom in quickly to correct any misconception. Of course impossible to achieve perfection within a short time but enough to salvage and turn around dd2's results beyond my expectation

So I have 'hired' dd1 again to go full force on EL & Science

I also think that it's quite effective to get my dd1 to coach dd2 but both of them always quarrel and fight :frustrated:
Nevertheless, dd2 ever commented that her sister could use different methods to teach her maths and there's a method that she can really understand and she realised that the question is so easy after that.

I have requested dd1 to coach mei mei after her PSLE. She said unless I am with them in their room. She commented that mei mei will bully her. In return, mei mei also complains to me that jie jie told her that she's not going to teach her. No way!

It is really never ending one.

my son is sometimes called upon to coach daughter for her math problem sum…when hubby doesn’t quite understand how to communicate with her. sometimes son is able to understand and explain better than hubby.

i don't have any kid taking psle this year...but i have a daughter taking psle and son taking o levels in 2016...don't know how to stretch myself even though the older one should be :xedfingers: more mature by then. the stress level will not end even when she goes to secondary school because she is academically weaker. but in Singapore, no matter how weak, die die have to finish another 4-5 years in secondary school before she can find a niche and passion in life.

firstly thank you for always being to supportive to the psle forum this year!

don't worry so much about 2016 ok? I am going through the same this year, it will all sail through, trust me. Don't really have to do much for O level except for moral support, do ensure your DS is consistent and does his work daily. Monitor his well being and give them freedom and space.

Ds play games - Mindcraft, grewtopia (not sure of the spelling) and he also keeps drifting away. He can a long time just to bathe and eat. Plus, disturb the brothers.

You referring to mine?

Not now of course. Read during school holiday last year or when very free, leisure reading for interest. History is about Singapore from a fishing village to a first world country. Very interesting according to my dd, to learn about our country

She likes biographies too, eg. Anne Frank. Been going around recommending everyone to read
I can't appreciate biographies though, I'm more of a manga person

Not everything must revolve around primary school syllabus only. Can read for personal enrichment

Already come up with a plan to keep dd1 meaningfully occupied.


Besides coaching dd2 and self studying, dd1 will be learning how to use a sewing machine. She learned how to sew buttons and do simple stitching during school holiday last year so it's time for next step

And also to learn how to cook more dishes. She can cook a few simple dishes but I would like her to learn more dishes to expand on the menu

All for my benefit. She can cook and sew while I idle

We have also 约好 to 减肥 together. Her target 10kg, mine 5kg. She can be my exercise buddy :rahrah:

Have not decided whether to resume cello lessons. Probably no time for that since her schedule seems so packed
