        ASLMUM:
Will it be acceptable if we use the US version such as appetising and instill?

I understand that in compo, if you use US spellings, you must use it in entirety for the whole compo. Likewise if you use British spelling.

For paper 2, I am not sure. If they can accept both British and American spelling in compo, I do not understand why they have both version of the American and British words as choices......

          Instil or instill?

          Instil - British version
          Instill - American version

DD's answer : inculcate the value of perserverance

Appetising is the British spelling so that is correct.

Just curious about a snt question.
There were two mountains. They were connected by a bridge.
Connected between (the two mountains was a bridge).
Should it be the two mountains or two mountains only?
My daughter put the because she says its specific to those two mountains.
DS 1) appetising. 2) the two mountains.

Kiddo said the connector was \"Connecting...\" was it ?
Connecting the two mountains was a bridge.

DD also said that the connector provided is \"Connecting...\"

                MommyM:
Hi ASLMUm, i think they will consider for as long as the child used american english throughout the entire paper. They will check for consistency.

Thanks MommyM. Quite worrying. DS keeps insisting it is acceptable but i would think in Singapore, we generally use the British version.

For Paper 1, DS wrote about 2 groups of boys snatching for a book and crowds cheering them. He tried to stop the fight but in vain. Story ended with security guard asking the vendor to provide the book and stop the fight. DS is not home yet, but based on the earlier posting, if the cheering is outside the building, not sure if it is out of point to fight outside the building fro a book?

Anyway what is done cannot be undone.

This year's paper is really quite tricky and paper 1 require some thinking to link the cheering with the book fair...
