I find it is hard to comment without the given text. Just like some of the Qns discussed on vocabulary.. Very hard to decide which is the most appropriate choice of ans without looking at the given sentence.

This is what I gathered :

You and your father were at a book sale when you heard loud cheers coming from the building entrance.

ds also did not write about the book sale... He wrote about dog abuse by a group of school bullies at the entrance of the building. He close off by saying that upon reaching home, dad asked what happened as he had gone missing while dad was queing up to pay $ at the book sale.

No scare, no scare.
The scene can happen in the book fair or outside the entrance.

If one writes outside the entrance, I don't think we need to write on book sale on length but adding one sentence to say that I was checking what's new in book sale. The centre of attraction still comes from the cheering.

That's what DS2's classmate wrote ! He mentioned the cheering was from the 粉丝 of a Korean star who had just arrived at the entrance for some event I find the idea quite refreshing
