Buy from online bookstore is another option to consider

            Avoid the hassle.
            http://www.pacificbookstores.com/
The new booklist should be updated only in Nov'14 which should coincides with the Orientation on 14 Nov 2014.

              a) if order online, ask them -

              - minimum must cost how much, before they deliver to your house ?

              - is the delivery free ?

              - any goodies given, if delivered to house ?

              b) if buy direct from school bookshop, they accept cash only.
              no nets, no cheque

              c) alternately, can also buy textbooks, workbooks from any Popular branch bookshop, nearby your house.
can use your Popular membership card, to get 10 % discount.

              textbooks / workbooks :
whether you buy from Rgps school bookshop, or buy from any Popular branch outside, are the same.

however, exercise books that bear our Rgps school logo -
then, purchase from our school bookshop.
(since they are available only in our bookshop, not outside)

              example
              - P1 English exercise book, Chinese tingxie booklet (both A5 size),

              - A4 size foolscap paper to write P1 English composition, in Term 3 onwards, bearing our own school Rgps logo

                    Total costs of books :

depend on what you want to buy, plus stationery, etc

                    example

Some parents have older dd sibling studying inside the school -
so they don’t need to buy the Textbook again, can re-cycle their older siblings’ Textbook, provided the syllabus doesn’t change.
But they will need to buy the workbooks, since Subject Tr require pupils to do classwork from workbooks directly.

                    example

                    for P1 Maths Workbook -
Maths Tr will ask parents to tear off all the pages inside Maths Workbook 1A (for First Semester), then staple all the torn pages chapter by chapter, and submit the whole stack back to the Maths Tr.
So, Workbook must definitely be a fresh new book.

but for new first time parents, then they may want to buy a lot of new Textbooks & workbooks, since is their first child, coming in to study at Rgps.

some of you may want to skip buying colored pencils or crayon, since kindergarten K2 may have already bought quite a lot, and still in good condition.

some of those assessment books, recommended by our school bookshop -
                    not compulsory, to buy.

Because P1 assessment books to be done at home, not done inside classroom.
Subject Tr never use these P1 assessment books at all, inside the classroom.
Don’t buy also can, if you already have other assessment books under different Publisher / Author, but along similar topic(s).
Anyway, the assessment books are recommended by Popular, not recommended by our school Tr.

so it's cheaper to buy them from popular?

for me, I always buy directly from Popular bookshop, since can make use of membership card, at 10 % discount.

I only buy items from our school bookshop, that need our school logo.
