In-law problems?

Minnie,
Sorry to rub me in, but you sure you want to leave your kids behind ? There are many places to visit in US, so if you are going to be moving around a lot, you’re going to be too tired at the end of the day and knock out at night. -
Hi janet_lee88,
Our main purpose of the trip is actually visiting friends in Vancouver and Chicago. LA is just our last stop. So we'd be tired after all the flying. Although I'll try to pack all the activities in the 1st 2 days while in LA, we probably won't go out all the time so will mostly likely spend quite some time at MIL's place. It's just not possible to live under one roof w/ her for any extended period of time, anywhere, not to mention her place where she's queen. I'll end up like a maid under her close scruity. She would say something mean to me (it's in her blood) and I won't have the high EQ to ignore it. So it'll be happier for everyone that I don't stay there too long. DH also thinks the kids should spend some time with their grandma. If I'm there, they'll just stick with me.
I've been delaying the inevitable for sometime and now that the kids a bit older (they'll be 4 & 6 then), they should know the basic safety rules. I've been preparing DD all along teaching her things ranging from what-to-do-when-lost to what-food-is-healthy. So hope she'll put them to use when I'm not there :xedfingers: -

Thanks buds for your support! :hugs: Yes, I might need that extra week just to recover from my emotional sufferings for those 2 days there
My heart will be with you throughout those times, minnie2004.
I :salute: your ability to compromise. As for the extra week,
treat it as your long deserved break to catch up with all the
ME time you need. Go pamper yourself girl! Then, come back
recharged. All my love.. :snuggles:
PS. It's good not to expect, so one will not be disappointed.
. Our last encounter took me a whole year to recover :x.
Anyway, I'll try my best to be strong. Won't let her affect me that much anymore. -
lovekidsverymuch:
Maybe your kids look identical to your DH so your PILs can't deny the fact that they're their offsprings
This is new but sounds quite true for lots of my friends but doesnt suit me cause my IL's love my kids to the fullest so much so that I need to sometimes ask them not to over pamper them as they kinda spoil them too
-
Minnie,
I know how you feel bcos I can’t even tolerate 2 hours facing them.
lovekidsverymuch,
you’re lucky to have in laws who love the kids. -
lovekidsverymuch,
The paternal grandparents want recognition without effort or love put in. Is there such a thing ? -
janet_lee88:
Indeed, there is..... My ILs are experts in that fieldlovekidsverymuch,

Hope your throat is better

auntieM,
My throat is much better today...thanks for asking
Still trying to breathe bcos the nose is blocked.
The paternal grandmother always ask my kids who she is...as if she is some big deal. My son replies her, 'you are my daddy's mother'. Then she asks the same question again and gets the same reply. What the heck is she hoping to hear ? -

Mine repeatedly ask for DS school name and timing over the years too!
Wait till one day your son add 'ONLY' and say 'you are only my daddy's mother'.... -
