What’s the estimated cost for the books. So as to prepare the cash

I think prepare $200 is more than enough. Basic items (the necessary textbooks and exercise books and subject files) should be around $100-$120. Then the add ons (assessment books [yes, they also sell assessment books for P1s], dictionary, plastic cover for the books, stationery, other files, chinese character card holder etc) would be addtional $$. So, I think $200 is more than enough.

Does the school have their own standard shoes and socks?
wear white socks, that bear our school's Rgps logo.

shoes : only white colored plain shoes allowed, can buy from Bata.
                No black shoes allowed

pinafore : minimum, must touch knee length, length cannot be short

Hair clip : only blue / black colored hair clip, hair ribbon, hair band, rubber band allowed.
                No other fanciful color allowed

Hair must be neatly tied up in pony tail or plaited, once exceed or fall beyond shoulder length.

                ===================================

                Note

                As for Assessment books -
so far those sold in our school book shop, are recommended only by Popular bookshop, trying to promote their sales.
They are not recommended by any of our school subject Tr, because Rgps Tr Do not recommend any external Assessment book.

                Example

                For P3 Science -
our Rgps Tr said that they can't recommend any Science assessment book : because some of the model answers printed right at the back of the assessment books by Publisher / authors, are wrong.
Parents need to be aware, about this.

                P1 : no Science.
                only English, Maths, Mother tongue
above is just an example to illustrate, why our school subject Tr do not recommend any Assessment book, to our pupils.

                This being the case -
parents can just go to outside bookshops, flip or browse through content of any assessment book, buy on your own, if find them suitable for your child.

So as to prepare the cash
                  for example

If refer to this year (2014) P1 book list -
second last column from extreme right : showed price list

                  http://swt3.vatitude.com/qql/slot/u451/ ... oklist.pdf

may refer to your latest 2015 P1 book list, for the price list -
since your dd starting P1 next year. (born 2008)

After deciding which items you wish to buy (or do not wish to buy),
can use calculator, to add up Total actual costs, incurred.

If purchase from our school bookshop directly, costs are fixed -
according to what is being indicated or shown, on the price list.

However, if you purchase from Popular bookshop outside, using the Popular membership card : may enjoy either 10 % discount, or 20 % discount, if purchase nearer to Christmas year end promotion goodwill season.
Normally towards Christmas around 10 December : there is a Popular bookfair promotion
                  year end sale conducted.

                  To save $ costs -
for items that require school Rgps logo, just buy directly from school bookshop.
But for other items that do not require Rgps logo, may buy & pay using your Popular membership card, outside.

                    now is Term 4

                    for each class , from P1 to P6 -
The role model pupil selected from each class for last Term (Term 3), is announced on the big notice board, at the entrance of our school canteen.

The names of role model pupils (from P1 to P6, per class) per Term, are not announced, inside our school newsletter.

                    Each Term -
One role model pupil per class, is then selected by the individual subject Trs.
Form Tr and Co-form Tr will come together, to discuss and to decide who will be selected ultimately, at the end of each Term.
(out of 30 pupils per class from P1 to P2, or out of 40+ pupils per class from P3 to P6, Mainstream)

The behavior of the pupils in school, in classroom, inside school bus -
                    are being noted.
Do not ignore the behavior of your child, sitting inside the school bus.

If any child is a school bully sitting inside the school bus, bullying the younger, weaker ones -
live "Police" sitting around inside the same school bus witnessing the scenario & having a sense of justice (of what is right & what is wrong), will help to defend the weaker one, report to the bully’s class Form Tr, whichever level this bully come from.
Rgps pupils are articulate, vocal, even from as young as P1.

Once bully reported, our Trs are fair.
Tr will listen to both sides, of the story.
                    (not just one side only)

If proven that what the bully done is indeed wrong, or one of them telling lies -
Form Tr will call up parents of the bully to discuss, to stop the bully action, discipline their own daughter.

If case is serious : Disciplinary Master of the school will step in, talk to parents.

Socks need not be the ones with RGPS logo, although I think generally most will just buy those socks. Hehs...
