If you want a diagnosis, I think you should see an educational psychologist. When you describe the symptoms etc, they will recommend what sort of tests they think appropriate. I think therapists use an official diagnosis or their own observations to design therapies, but I'm not sure if they are able to give official diagnoses themselves.Hi
Do a child with ADHD need to see an occupation therapist or an Educational psychologist ?

Hi
Is your child on medication for ADHD ? Does it helps to improve the condition of his concentration in class?
Did you enrol your child in group classes or individual classes?
How do you teach your child to be able to follow instructions and pay attention during group classes?
My child was asked to withdraw from group enrichment classes because he keep walking around the class and lying on the floor.I feel sad because he cannot continue the lesson to learn even though the programme is good. -
Hi
How do we teach the ADHD not to walk around in the classroom, lie on the floor and pay attention to the teacher teaching ? -
Hi Cheers LS
Thanks for replying.
1) He is tired during class. The teachers are not trained to handle ADHD children. In his enrichment class even though he is walking ard or lying on the floor when during lesson if you test him on what he have learned in class he can tell you which new words are taught. For class in childcare, he could hardly follow through nor pay attention to the teachers.
2) His childcare teacher will put him to a time out corner. His classmates labelled him as naughty.
3) Have suggested to childcare centre to let child take a short break in between class as well as let child be a little helper to the teacher but I not sure if the teachers did practise.
So not sure now what we can do at home to help child improve his paying attention in class -

How old is your child, and how long does he spend at childcare? If he's there all day, then it's really important that his carers know how to handle him and make accommodations for him. I hope you can convince them to work with you. For the enrichment class, if he is tired, then can you find another time or just don't send him for now.Hi Cheers LS

At home, to to get him into the habit of staying focused on an activity for increasing lengths of time. The best is to give him things he likes to do and encourage him to stick to it as long as possible. The more practice he gets at staying focused, the better. -
Hi Simkhoo
He is 4 years old.He goes to childcare full day.The childcare is quire strict they expect all children to abide to their rules and to be independent.
The enrichment class he went since last year.Is only this term he cannot sit still, walk around in the class.
For a start at home, how long duration do I get him.to focus on the activity he like?
