Can I check will there be an orientation camp for all yr 1 students?
And if yes, any idea how long and when is likely to be held ? week 1 or week 2 of Jan ? On weekdays or over weekend Fri/Sat ?

As there was no Week-0 in 2012 (02 Jan was on Monday), Yr-1 Orientation was held on the 1st week of Jan (Week-1), and the Camp was from Wed - Fri (if I remember correctly).. I recall attending a meeting-cum-bonding session with the Civics Tutors and other parents (whose kids were from DS1's class), before picking DS1 after the Camp in the evening..

However, there is Week-0 in 2015 (02 Jan is on Friday), hence Yr-1 Orientation should continue through the 2nd week of Jan (Week-1), and the Camp should be on the last 3 days of Orientation.. Most likely to be on weekdays..

Thank you for sharing, am checking because DS and DH wanted to attend some SSO concert playing on 2nd Sat of Jan, if clashes with camp, then they wont book the tickets...looks like shld be OK since the camp is prob on weekdays

Your boy has made up his mind and submitted his DSA Option ? If so, Welcome to RI !!

The Yr-1 Camp should be from Mon to Wed, or Tues to Thurs, on the 2nd week of Jan (Wk-1). It is usually held at the same time when the Yr-2 boys are away for Malaysia Montage in Malacca, and the Yr-3 boys for Outward Bound in Pulau Ubin..

Only the Yr-4 boys will be in school with the Yr-1 boys during this period (JC term starts much later). In fact, the Yr-4 boys (PSLs) are the ones who plan and organise activities for Yr-1 Orientation every year. These selected (current) Yr-3 boys have already started meeting up to discuss on next year's Yr-1 Orientation program..

Rest assured the Seniors will take good care of their Juniors.. Enjoy !! :celebrate:

no lah, cant exercise option yet cos the form will only be given later..cant recall is it on 17 oct or sth like that....but likely DS will choose RI unless he messed up his PSLE lor...

thanks for the info. it is nice to learn that the yr 3 going to 4 boys are planning the orientation, I will tell that to my DS

By the way, all the best to your DS2 too, may he achieve sterling results for his PSLE
