Its only CA1, a small percentage, still can catch up in SAs.
My child did not do as well as last year. She topped her class for EL last year SA2 and now, she scored even less than Jennifer's son, and I am cool about it. :lol: Careless mistakes and genuine ones that she does not know. Its alright. I took it tat CA is a great chance for me to let go and see how she coped. I 90% let go, even nagged 90% less, not entirely volunteerily on my part tho, just too tied up. If the child does well, great, if not, its only a small percentage. Scoring 70 and 90 only makes 2% difference in the overall 100% for the year. Anyway, most importantly, I want her to learn to be more independent and more self-disciplined. Frankly, even tho she did not score as well, wow...her handwritings improved, tat is a good effort during exam I thot. No more doc's handwriting. She looks like she is quite determined to do better next exam as she did admit that she could have spent more time practising and revising instead of watching movies and reading books(tons of them).

Can imagine your :x . I hate it when setters and vetters are not vigilant in checking their exam papers. Looks like my fears are materializing for the standard of science in Pei Hwa...Jennifer:
From what he told me, the teacher has not taught how to read graphs. Anyway, I find the graph does not depict the levels correctly too. Just very surprised at the qn. There was another qn asking whether a tree with a bird's nest fern on it will grow as well as other trees. This qn is subsequently cancelled after the paper is marked. Irregardless whether the pupil ans correctly or not, everyone gets 1 point. :?

just wonder... i got feedback from my relative that the same question was tested on two kids in P6 . One from Pr school in woodlands , the other from PH. The question is: when two objects with the different mass fall from the the same height, which one will land first. The correct ans came from the Pr school in Woodlands. PH kid commented that teacher never teach.
So after hearing about the Science subjects issue in this forum, is it true that the Science teachers in PH are not so good as compare to other school? no offence here. Just want to get more information and opinion...cheers.. -

Fully agree with the reading part. As for watching movies, I guess it's subjective. I am quite selective on the programmes she watches. She is not really a TV girl. She reads the subtitles all the time when she watches mandarin shows which I think does help in her understanding.Donkey,

Sorry can’t help you yet…son wasn’t tested for Mass in his CA1.
Some teachers are more experienced and keen to make lessons interesting. -

My son also reads the subtitles and loves to watch TVB shows…esp those only CID, forensic shows. I let him watch…much better than those Taiwanese love love shows. HaHaHa -

This question about objects falling to the ground.My DS understands about the concept of gravitational. However, he learnt from guide book. Science lessons in school seems to me (personal opinon) are always just touch on, not explain further cos the workbook or worksheets are very basic.Which is why i dont want to ask my DS \"teacher got teach this or that\" reason being sometime have sometime don have sometime dont know
this P6 CA1 Science Paper also has a question that has mistake, so everyone awarded 2 marks. wonder what HOD Science and teachers are doing!!Did they checked the paper carefully? guess not, if not there wont be any mistake. -

This question is a very common question. If the child is already in P6, he should have already been exposed to this type of questions (not necessary the same question) over his years of learning science. A science teacher cannot teach EVERY question. Science, itself is very wide, but the focus on application of concepts is the key. Teachers should teach the right concepts and expose them to process-skill questions that require them to apply those concepts. I think we shouldn't judge the teachers in this case unless we know about the P6 child's science standard. He can only say 'that teacher never teach' if the concepts of the topic was never covered before.

We intend to buy an apartment within 1km to Pei Hwa in order to get a place for our boy. Don’t know how high is the chance for 1 km residents in PeiHwa.
Do all the students have to be or will mostly likely be converted to christian after joining the school? We are non-christians.
