Hi, my dd oso has traing on Tue Thur and Sat. She has 3rd lang on Mon so her early days r 3+pm on Wed or Fri. I asked my dd bout filling her time while waitg. She usu arranges her proj discussions, does her hw and revises for her tests during these periods. It helps alot bcos she can hv some peace of mind when she gets home.
It is not 2 days now. It is still 3 days as previous arrangement, except that trainings are on Tue, Thu and Fri/Sat. Initially it was to be Sat, but cos some of the girls don't want to train on weekend, he opened up Fri as another option.abachee:
Daranic,
What is there to complaint and write petition? In fact all the CCA regardless is it sport, UG, music or dance ensemble got their hectic schedule to fulfilled.
Cedar is very good and proud in their Track & Field team and Cross country are their niche CCA that help win them numerous National champion in respective division over the years.
I am not surprised at all for their hectic schedule in training.
You can either voice it out to the respective head of that CCA and tell them about your concern and ask your DD whether she still like to continue and be in her current CCA or not.
If you feel that her CCA is too time consuming for your child, you can drop out of tat CCA and transfer to another CCA where there is lesser time for your child to commit.
Dun worry about the CCA your daughter in and the amount of time she got to spend, the school culture and the teachers will ensure that all the students will be all rounded in their CCA and their studies and it's a good practice for the child to learn how to prioritise and juggle between the study and CCA time.
In fact, all schools involved in sport CCA usually have a very hectic schedule to face. And this is the reality in every school.
Btw, you should be more happier and contend that now your daughter have to commit 2 days of her CCA time compare to the original 3 days she have before.
I am NOT complaining about the hectic schedule. But rather the timing of the trainings. It used to on days when the school hours end at 3.15pm on most days. But now that trainings are on Tue, Thu and Fri/Sat, these few days are their short days, so they have to stay longer in school on almost all 5 days.
She tries to think more positive as her bro has traing 4x/5x a week in Sec1 plus he also has 3rd lang. Your dd will get used to it. BUT if she really can't cope, u can ask for a transfer. If you opt for a transfer do note there is some risk to the CCA points you hv earned. Some of my ds frens who transferred had their pts completely annulled.
I think of this whole thing more like a traing for my dd's perseverance, resilience n attitude. I told her if the going gets tough, find a way to get thru n overcome it. In the future she will be able to cope better when life's pressures increase.
My ds snrs tell him sec sch life is like a walk in the park compared to jc life. So I think our children need to start coping now. -
Hi! Just want to check, what is the minimum criteria for DSA (academic) for Cedar? And also can anyone share about the process? My dd is in P4 now(I know it’s super early to worry abt this now), she is keen in Cedar girls but she is in CO so shld be no hope for DSA for CCA. So I guess if she still haven’t chg her mind by the time she’s in P6, we can only go for DSA academic. I have to warn her abt maintaining gd results for her P5 if the minimum critetia also includes P5 results. Tia!

How did she fair in her previous exams? -
I heard for the DSA, they need to sit for an apptitude test relating to algebra-not simple P6 alegbra. U may want to check out further on this and gear up your child on this aspect if it is really the case.

If that’s the case why not try RGS?

Oh.. is that so? Does that mean that cedar emphasizes more in math? -

Haha... I leave it for her to decide. Up till now her mind is set at Cedar (since p2). But who knows, she might chg her mind later...
