I'm sorry to interrupt here but i wish to know whether MOE is no longer using T-scores, if yes, so the scores that students are getting are all the raw marks?
Last time, with T-score, I read from some parents, children should focus more on languages inorder to get higher T-score and now what should the students focus?
Anyone can advise.
:thankyou: -

T-score is still being used... at least as of now and for 2014 PSLE results.I'm sorry to interrupt here but i wish to know whether MOE is no longer using T-scores, if yes, so the scores that students are getting are all the raw marks?

Got back gal's results for three papers. Failed maths again. this despite twice a week tuition and massive drop for Eng and Chse. Sigh!
The problem is lack of urgency and motivation. Scolding, nagging and even rewards do not seem to work anymore. and worse, when she does not seem to be scared of failing, or at least I do not see her panicking. I always feel that unless the child is inherently motivated to perform well, it is difficult to pull the results up.
Now horribly worried for her psle next year..... -

I hear you! Same boat with DS. He knows he's doing badly in English and marginally ok for math. He knows he has to work harder. But when I give him work to do, he'll start moaning. I'm on tenterhooks waiting for results, especially his English. All stressed up over this so I can't imagine when it's PSLE.Got back gal's results for three papers. bb mom,

I told myself that I would avoid certain threads next year like this one, DSA 2015, PLSE math etc? I would get all worked up and upset that DS canโt perform well. And then my anxiety would be transferred to him and he gets all worked up. And the next thing I know, nothing gets done! Thatโs the plan anyway.

bb_mom, hang in there for next year. Boys tend to mature very much slower than girls so such behaviour is expected.
In my opinion, be patient, give him the encouragement, support, give him the push when required. Be firm but not over push him. Its easier said than done.
And you will be very stressed n kancheong (normal for PSLE year). Guess, what you have to do is guide him over 2015 n at least pass all subjects.
Anyway, you can always come here n vent. Many mums will share the same headache as you.
