      IJJ:
Chill, ladies! 😉 Its only CA1, a small percentage, still can catch up in SAs.

My child did not do as well as last year. She topped her class for EL last year SA2 and now, she scored even less than Jennifer's son, and I am cool about it. Careless mistakes and genuine ones that she does not know. Its alright. I took it tat CA is a great chance for me to let go and see how she coped. I 90% let go, even nagged 90% less, not entirely volunteerily on my part tho, just too tied up. If the child does well, great, if not, its only a small percentage. Scoring 70 and 90 only makes 2% difference in the overall 100% for the year. 😉 Anyway, most importantly, I want her to learn to be more independent and more self-disciplined. Frankly, even tho she did not score as well, wow...her handwritings improved, tat is a good effort during exam I thot. 😉 No more doc's handwriting. She looks like she is quite determined to do better next exam as she did admit that she could have spent more time practising and revising instead of watching movies and reading books(tons of them). 😎

Well, its only primary 3 and 4, still a long way to go. 😉
my son also did not do well in EL compared to last year. When i checked the paper, i find that some of the mistakes he made are understandable as i think they are tough for a P3 kid. i think PH has raised their standard this yr as the mock paper was quite easy compared to this yr.

So don't be too hard on your children as it affects everyone else too.

        Mummy Baby:
Can anyone help me with these questions?

We intend to buy an apartment within 1km to Pei Hwa in order to get a place for our boy. Don't know how high is the chance for 1 km residents in PeiHwa.
Do all the students have to be or will mostly likely be converted to christian after joining the school? We are non-christians.
the chance may not be good unless you are in phase 2b (need voluntary work or affiliation).

child does not need to be christian.

the school provides a christian environment. but whether child will get converted or not is up to the individual.

Haha. I guess ladies tend to get on tenterhooks more easily. Got to balance things up a bit here. Thanks for reminder. :thankyou:

My P3 boy has done relatively well in the MCQ and Cloze passages. The killers were those sections in which he has to write complete sentences - misspellings, not writing capital letters and omissions. And also his tendency to disagree and putting in his own ans in compreh.

He has been diagnosed with mild degree of ADHD. The doc warned us it could affect his academic years, esp in the upper pri levels. That's why I am so upset that he is not applying the exam tactics he learnt last year.

It seems that I hv to work on increasing his concentration span since the sections he is worse at are usu. set towards the end of the test paper.

                Hi Tweet,

                Thanks 🙂
Will need advice from you along the way, esp next year...heard that majority of the workload is done at P5 as there isn't much time to do that in P6.
My son is an average student, quite worried which sec school he can get into without using DSA.

                E3,
Ladies tend to get anxious easier than men. Men have a hormone which keeps them 'happy' in general...I heard that from a man himself - my gynae.

                  Hi Janet
No problem. Be glad to answer your queries, Yes, majority of the wkload is in P5 especially maths. My DS was really stressed out last yr, so much to learn for maths but so little time. it is good to start your son with maths end of this yr, bit by bit to let him feel the differneces btw P4 and P5.
For first half of P6, Maths is basically repeating the topics done in P5 execpt for Algebra, the 3 main ones are ratio, fraction, percentage.

My children are also average students. Many yrs back,My DD missed a few marks to get into SAP Sec sch, cried, disappointed that she cant be with her friends.I told her, most impt is that she had worked hard(w/o tuition) and encouraged her to wk hard in sec sch and she will succeed.Truth enough, she scored 7 distinctions and make it to her choice JC. Be it SAP, Autonomous or IP schools, Right attitude to study is impt and not forgeting good personality too.

                      Hi Tweet,

Thanks for all you have mentioned. Quite a bit to digest but vital info.
Your daughter really worked hard to get into her choice JC…that kind of internal motivation will drive her further.

                      Hi E3,
For CL compo, I got this title ‘Chinese Essay Writing Guidebook’. Has 3 levels, elementary (brown cover), intermediate and advance. There is this other book I got. It’s titled, ‘The essential Chinese composition guidebook for primary students 好词好句’ Both books are by Victoria Publications.

Thanks Janet, I do hv one 看图写话 which is too simple for the school's standard. Her teacher requires them to use 成语. I ended up telling her what to write. Although she read this guide book, it's still not sufficient. I was hoping she can read some models which are more applicable. I will check out the books you had recommended. :thankyou:
