      Hi Shheng,

Do you mean your teacher friend’s school scrapped its own PV program or she has inside news that MOE is scrapping it nationwide? Better find out properly before starting a panic here… many parents have already started their volunteer efforts and won’t appreciate such news.

If MOE scrap Parent Volunteer scheme nation wide, will create commotion uproar

read Education Minister (Mr Heng SK) comment
        http://www.theonlinecitizen.com/2014/06 ... -scrapped/

If PV scheme is removed, GRC privileges for P1 admission will also be affected (scrapped).
Both under the same Phase : 2B

If they remove PV scheme, think they want more pple to go GRC scheme. Dun think GRC scheme will be scrapped.

Better wait for news before we speculate further...

maybe they want to restrict, confine or channel Phase 2B applicants to enter, via religious background (Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Anglican churches, Buddhist temple, Hokkien clan association) ?

Possible. But GRC route just changed requirement to 2 years' work so dun think they will scrap that. As for associations, some will say not fair... so if no PV route then they better keep GRC route for the non-believers / non-Hokkiens. Plus GRC route gives volunteers more choices of schools than PV and also ensures the volunteers are staying near the school.

MOE, if you wanna announce this, please announce quickly. Dun do last minute.

Yes, if MOE intend to abolish PV scheme across the board, should announce early.

Don’t make parents PV sweat 60 or 80 hours, for nothing.

Some parents, although have reached the target achieved, still continued to clock in more hours than the minimum required : as a safety precaution.
Just in case they unlucky, got balloted out during Phase 2B in extremely popular, hot schools, then their case stand out in significance for appeal, since they clocked in more hours than what was being required.

I think most schools that are typically oversubscribed in P2B due to churches, temples, clans etc association have exercised their discretion to stop taking in PV. However, I don't think MOE has scrapped the PV scheme across all schools. The PV scheme is still relevant in schools without a strong alumni network, or churches and clans support.

If MOE wants to scrap the program it will definitely annouce it a few years in advance so that existing PVs wont be affected. Some individual schools do scrap it too…

                        Hi,

Anyone went for the PV selection interview for West Grove Pri Sch before? Can I check what kind of questions they will most likely ask for PV interview?

                        Thank you.
