Augmum:
Thanks Augmum
Hi Schweppes, we are referring to H2 Bio (A level)...O level Bio is still ok...
-
schweppes:
There's H2 and H1 Math. Not sure how that relates to Math and F Math.
She enjoys Maths. During our time, there was Maths and F Maths at A levels. Is there still some F Maths equivalent at A levels now? Sorry, a bit out of touch now.jtoh:
At the end of the day, ask your dd to go with her interest and ability. No point taking a subject she has no interest in. Every subject comes with its own level of difficulty at A levels and what will sustain you is your interest. Of course you must be competent in that subject as well to begin with.

Ds is also more keen on chem and bio. I think most of the uni engineering course courses will need Physics.
DS is currently doing 3 Sciences and 1 Humanities. Most people (including his Seniors) have advised DS not to drop Physics, as most Uni courses require Physics as one of the entry criteria. But DS says he prefers Chem & Bio to Physics. DS can be quite stubborn once he has made up his mind..
Which 2 Sciences does your boy have stronger interest in ? Seems like many would choose to do Chem & Physics, as I've heard/read that Bio is a rather 'heavy' subject..
DS still has one year to change his mind, hopefully.. -

No F Maths now. It was more advanced than the Maths taught in most western school systems and meant that first yr Maths in university was mainly a repeat. Also, students who took 2 Maths couldn't do 2 sciences and a contrasting subject (no such requirement in the past). Roughly, H1 Maths is like the old AO Maths (but not as easy), and H2 Maths is like the old A Maths. To do more advanced Maths, there's H3.schweppes:

Hi Jtoh,
Nice to see you here.
Do you know what is the percentage of the students doing one or two h3 subjects in ri? Also what are yr views on doing RA in year 5? -

I just took a quick look, and most engineering courses say Physics OR Chem. Only a few say Physics AND Chem.

To follow on, is RA only for Yr5? Or does it continue to Yr 6? What if a student is doing H3 in that subject? Is there any overlap or clash? What are the benefits of doing RA at Yr5? Thanks!Hi Jtoh,

Which one is C Maths then? -

Thanks slmkhoo. Maybe i should take a quick quick look at the admission criterias for some of the courses in uni too.
