Parents of children in the student care, any idea where can we get kids sleeping bags other than NTUC/Giant? Seems like those are more for adults and quality is nylon/polyester type which is quite warm.

Hi! yeah, received it few days back as well. -
Was looking through the student care details, also went for an appt with the student care-in-charge earlier today. At first I thought it was a typo error - that nap time for P1 is from 2.30pm to 3pm - only 30 mins. But it is correct, after we clarified with the person-in-charge.
Would like to ask Mummies of existing students - how (well) did your child cope upon entering P1 student care, in terms of sleep? My son has been very used to at least 2 hr nap since childcare. Switching to just 30 mins nap seems quite a drastic change. I strongly believe that children should need at least 10-12 hrs of sleep a day as it is essential for their development. -
Where is Sengkang Green Primary?

Having a shorter nap time will allow your child to sleep earlier. Probably they will feel tired at around 8 to 8+pm. Waking up at 6 or 6+am the next morning should be sufficient to last them through the school hours before taking the power nap.Was looking through the student care details, also went for an appt with the student care-in-charge earlier today. Start training your little one 2 months before the school term starts. Slowly reduce his nap time and make him sleep earlier to get used to the routine. -

Sleep time is very short. However if you look at how much time they actually have at the afterschool care, you will appreciate why. School dismissal at 1.45pm. By the time they reach the student care and proceed for lunch will be easily close to 2pm. Half hour to eat then next half to shower. Easily 3pm. Half hour rest. Time for schoolwork, tea and activities. Some children go home about 5pm so it is really tight. Plus outdoor time is important for the soul.
Just to share, my ds has enrichment on tue and thu. So he won’t get to shower and rest as he will only be dismissed about 3 odd. He gets tired by wednesday as the cumulative lack of sleep. We only start checking his school work at around 8.30pm. By the time ds goes to bed, it would have been easily 9.45pm. He wakes up at 6.50am. Poor thing. So we catch up on sleep on weekends. Better than nothing.
It takes adjusting to. Not easy to put children to bed early unless they are accustomed to it. Not much choice for parents working full time with no helper or grandparents help. The children just have to learn to cope. Shower them with more love, encouragement and attention. I also take half day leave at times when I notice ds is very tired so that he can nap loner at home.
It is not an easy journey.Jia you!
