From what I've heard, it's not that heavy. The combi to avoid is bio and geog together as they're both very content heavy. Between Econs and History, I don't think either one is more heavy-going than the other. It all depends on aptitude. Econs has always been touted as the more useful subject in real life. It is also considered the more 'science-y' one, which is why many science students veer towards it.

fyi, there are many more BCME classes than BCMH classes.

RA is a 2-year course. The boys do RA in Yr-3 & 4 and/or Yr-5 & 6.. I too wonder if there's any difference between H3 & RA, in a particular subject (any overlap in content, which is more difficult)..

From what I hear there is an overlap. But I suppose it depends on which module of H3 you take as well. I have no experience in this so can't comment further.

that's right, the student did not take A level physics.

RA in RIJC is conducted for only 1 yr in yr5. The only complaint my DS has is tt a pupil cannot do both chem n math RAs, ie must choose only one, cos the scheduling cannot cater for this combi. However, chem olympiad training is opened to non-RA pupils too if they clear the selection test. As a result, a couple of math-chem RA people switch to math-physics RA. Hopefully in yr6, there is no scheduling problem should a pupil apply for double H3 in math n chem.

I suppose he applied for the engineering scholarship and got it. He might think since he did very well in A level, everything is easy (which is true for some people).

Can I equate (by level of difficulty), as follows ?

H1 - AO-Level
H2 - A-Level
H3 - S-Level

Not really. A parent raised this at a talk at the beginning of the year and the speaker said it's not the same. It's not accurate to compare H1/2/3 against our AO/A/S. Better to understand the differences between H1/2/3. That is H1 and H2 are same level of difficulty, but H1 does less breadth. H3 is more difficult.
