Yes, thatβs why I like the concept of gap sem too. I wouldnβt worry about HCL O levels. The school will prepare them well for it. I believe HCL classes are the only classes still ongoing during this semester.

Gap sem sound so fun. Just have to make sure you do well for mid-years though.
Was told (at the briefing) that RI is the only school in SG which allows the students to be away from school for 9 weeks, so close to their GCE O Level HCL exam.. This is probably the only worry I have regarding Gap Sem..
That aside, Gap Sem is a great opportunity for the boys to learn & explore outside the classrooms (eg. when they attend courses locally or overseas, and work in local firms & organizations).. And the best thing about Gap Sem is that, it is not graded, hence the boys are free to explore without the pressure/fear of making mistakes.. -

Will try to encourage DS to apply for a 2-week job at an Engineering firm, so that he can experience and discover for himself, if he really is NOT suitable to be an engineer..
Then he can decide (wisely) if he really wants to drop Physics in Yr-5..

Firstly.. The boys can choose from 100+ International & Local Courses and Work Attachments that the school has arranged for the boys to apply to do, during their Gap Sem..
Secondly.. The boys can initiate their own jobs/courses (SICs), with the help of parents, relatives, teachers (the boys are NOT allowed to make cold calls to companies)..
One speaker shared that a boy, who aspired to be a lawyer, applied and got his work attachment with a Law firm.. After his 2-week stint, he decided that he didn't want to be lawyer anymore..
Maybe he was asked to photocopy documents and make coffee/tea for his bosses/colleagues everyday.. :yikes: -
