My DD experienced this too during her early years. I thought this practice had stopped, particularly after the school distributed a booklet to all the pupils about proper bus etiquette.
Each child should have her own seat because of the new safety belt ruling for school buses. This is also why we are paying more for school transport.
You may wish to inform the school about this. -
Thank you for your reply.
Is your girl taking the big bus too during her early years? Did u feedback to sch?
Despite having the seat belt regulations, the girls are not told to buckle up. And that was my first concern when they places the P1 girls seated at the first row near the door. I didn’t have a chance to ask if there are aeat belts installed but my girl seem to have told me before it’s not installed. It prob is not a mandatory requirement for these big buses. But I saw another sch bus of the same company had seat belts installed and all the boys are buckled up.
Because of the seat sharing, the girls have to put their sch bags on the floor. And the middle seating girl will have to sit uncomfortably because of the edge of the 2 seats gap. It’s really frustrating to know this is happening when I’m paying the price for a single seat for my child like everyone else is. They should have a seat to themselves comfortably for the ride.
I know of other sch bus transport who will inform the parents that there are not enough seats to take in anymore new students. I shall inform the sch about it but doubt they may do anything. There’s still a Term left to go for these 6 girls to share seats until next year when some P6 girls graduate from the sch bus transport. By then we shall have to see how many new P1 will join in yet again. -
I don't know what size her bus was. I work fulltime so after her school she goes to her granny's. I think I did call the school to ask and was told they would look into it. I don't recall getting any follow-up call after that and, to be honest, I think I forgot about it as my DD didn't mention it again. However, in her case, if I remember correctly, it had more to do with the older girls telling the younger ones like my DD where to sit. It didn't sound like a case of too many girls and too few seats. Some time later, the school issued a bus etiquette booklet and after that, my DD mentioned in passing that her bus now had an \"aunty\". Things improved after that as there was someone to keep an eye on the girls and the driver could focus on driving.
My DD doesn't talk much about the bus. Only thing she's told me recently is to give her more snacks because she's sharing hers with a P1 girl who's sitting beside her.
According to this LTA news release, seat belts are not required in big buses -- http://app.lta.gov.sg/apps/news/page.aspx?c=2&id=2024 -- I guess because they don't have a big back door like the small buses. The only reason this ruling came about is because of that young boy who got flung out of his school bus. -

Hi,
New to this group and considering SMPS for our daughter in a couple years because of the location.
Can it be true there is no post in this forum since 2009? No updates? Very curious to know the latest word of mouth views on the school.
Thanks, -
Hi HKDad,
There are 163 pages for this school alone so rest assured that posts are made regularly. -
hi vonn2tri,
how did you know your dd's class? I searched all letters...but could not find the class stated....
. I thought we will get to know during the Orientation Day, hence i leave the class name blank.
Please help....thanksvonn2tri:
hi dear parents... my daughter is currently in 1 Devotion. Are there any other parents here of kids from the same class? Shall we connect? Cheers

-
Hi mummy2008,
The new batch of P1s do not know their class yet. I think vonn2tri's daughter is already in 1 Devotion this year (not the incoming batch)
Yup the forms all ask for their class even though we don't know it yet. Just bring a pen along on orientation day. They will sort them out in classes on that day.
