      Wow, Bronzy and kaitlynangelica,

GOSH - We have gone thru alot just to have a kid, haven't we?

I took a drastic step to conceive in the sense that I started shutting myself off from work once I reached home and went thru a yoga and healthy diet regime to build up my body. Also went for TCM too.

Yup, *sprinkle sprinkle* baby dust to all those who want/need it 😄 😄
      Autumnbronze,

What kind of diet are you on?

For me, I have been taking lots of supplements from a particular MLM company called Zhulian (zhulian.com.my). I mentioned this in another thread as well. A friend introduced it to me and I was skeptical initially but I do find that after taking it, I am healthier, calmer, sleep better and less tired. TCM doctor said that I am very weak, ( qi bu zu ) and I need to take lots of vegetables and eat fresh food. The supplement I have been taking is an anti-oxidant beverage. Some one else also told me Usana is good so you can consider that. Another person also trying to conceive subscribes to the \"Eat Right for your Blood Type\" diet.

You see, my miscarriages have turned me into a health freak. Can have miscarriage means unhealthy right? The supplements cost me a lot - between $200 and $300 a month but if it works, I really don't mind paying.

Life is strange and ironical, as my friends used to comment:

there are lots of teens who get pregnant so easily/frequently, and then they have to go for abortions.

and there are lots of people who try so hard to concieve, but are either not successful, or not easy to do so…

So if some of you are keen to add to the family, the idea is to start doing it early. Chances of conceiving reduces with age, of both the wife as well as the husband. This is more so given the stress that we are facing at work in the modern world.

For those who because of whatever reasons started late, I know that some will say leave it to nature. But I’ll advise you to also see a gynae to get help (not necessarily IUI or IVF first) with conceiving.

In the case of DW, when we wanted to start family, we were not successful for abt a year, but DW was already seeing gynae. Then the gynae said that DW had fibroids and cysts which might make it difficult to conceive, so she arranged to have them removed. And during op, found that DW had endometriosis, which definitely hindered conceiving. Then few mths after that, when DW recovered, DD was conceived…

On having only 1 kid, it could be lonely for the kid. We have 3 neighbours in the same block who are single child, and who are looked after by their grandmothers. They all like to play with my kids when got chance…

I have gone to see the gynae. He says nothing wrong with me. I have seen the TCM doctor and after a few rounds of med, she says my 'qi' is much better..............donno what that means. And if I get preg now, take her chinese med right to the end.

Same same - with regards to seeing a gynae.

Oh, when I say diet regime, I meant I ate healthily. I really got rid of processed foods, junk foods etc... out of my life. I am trying to get back to that same regime now. Yoga gave me some form of peace and stability. TCM was supposed to boost my blood circulation or something.

Then when the heartbeat was confirmed, gynae put me on a quarter a day asprin intake until the day I delivered. Supposed to thin my blood, to do with blood flow to the placenta or something ... can't remember lah. So sometimes I wonder if it has to do with my blood circulation :?

Anyway, am on folic acid, Vit E and C.

Actually I don't think having miscarriages means that you are unhealthy ... there could be other factors lah ...

I am not sure if I want to go thru IVF etc... I have seen documentries on it and it seems emotionally draining ....

I will try all possible alternative methods .. if not, already spoke to DH abt adopting.

Lets see what will happen. If its meant to be, its meant to be (Though I generally hate to go along with this philosophy, but I have come to realize that some things are sometimes just beyond one's control)

I know what u mean.................we keep on saying let go let go but deep inside, very 'beh kam wan'.

Since u have your own boy, my suggestion is not to adopt.

Just some thoughts on not able to conceive...I have a friend's friend who was trying to conceive for years for a child but could not. She was in the process of going for IVF treatment. Just before the main part of the treatment got started, she conceived. Even the doctors were surprised but happy. Many asked her what has she done to conceive? She was puzzled herself but said, it could be that she was very relax during that period of time. She has 4 girls now. All conceived naturally. 😄

kaitlynangelica, Curious why you are not for adoption - have you had/heard of any negative experiences? Have also been thinking of adoption as too late to conceive myself.

Was given to understand that the miscarriage implies that the eggs were of poor quality. As for IVF, it can drain you emotionally (and finacially too!). However, if it is successful, then I say that it is worth the effort.

                        Bronzy,

My personal opinion is that being an Asian society (and not targeting anyone in particular), pple are not so receptive about adoption.

I am well aware (based on the no of yrs I have known them) that my ILs may be uncomfortable with the idea. Also, I can say for sure that they will be biased, but not intentionally. They love to 'how lian' abt their grandson (only one at the moment), they are his 'proud' grandparents aft all  What I am afraid will happen is that there will be unintentional comparisons made abt the kids' differences in characters, milestone developement etc ...

So I know that if I do go ahead and adopt, I need to have everyone's support, but then again, can be hard to commit cuz of the notion that 'blood is thicker than water. I don't want the child growing up with some inferiority complex or something. Even my DH says that we cannot be like a la Brangalina, ie adopting kids from a myriad of backgrd, it will not hold water here and he also says that the child inevitably will end up feeling different from others. So its an undertaking that has to be thought through v v carefully and we can't turn back once we take upon the responsibility to bring up a child that is not our 'flesh and blood' 😄

So for me, adopting a child does not only concern my immediate family, it also concerns the whole extended family - quite a large one at that.

Just my humble opinion ... 😄
