CHIJ St. Nicholas and Catholic high may form IP/Independent school just like Nanyang and Hwa Chong in future...well,I hope not. Today they are the next best choice for boys/girls SAP school at govt rate.

IP application has been closed by MOE some years back after they approved River Valley's application. They had already rejected the IP programmes proposed by the Catholic Schools back then.

            catholic high or chinese high?

Has to be Catholic High bc Chinese High(HCI-Hwa Chong Institution) is an IP school and their boys don't do O-Levels.

I read the newspaper report and was impressed that one of the Catholic High Boys managed to score 9A1 despite having an average PSLE score of 238 then.

And if he was able to enter Catholic High with 238, he has to be from the affiliated primary school. So choose a school with affiliation definitely helps in this case and of course, we cannot deny the effort of the boy and the school for his remarkable result.

Apparently the 12 boys make up 1/3 of the top scorers. So boys who don't do well in primary school can do as well, if not better than girls. ๐Ÿ™‚

the school let them choose their own subject combinations.

                  thatโ€™s really very good!

From info given in the MOE website, it shows that out of the 12 Chinese High students who scored 9A1, 7 took Chinese and 5 took Higher Chinese. Certainly good performance for a SAP school where most better students take Higher Chinese.

Out of the 35 top students named by MOE, 10 took Chinese - 7 from Chinese High.

Ya, I read from the papers that the reason for so many of their students top the list is due to the change in curriculum. I was wondering what change. So it is the choosing of their own subjects.
