      Hi all

I was a first time employer who had just given birth 2 weeks when Siti's acts were uncovered and her stunts shown. Thus, couldn't think of the best way to handle it.

My family was too stunned and shocked that she actually dare to climb out of the window and abseil down to 'escape' with her loot. And when she returned again to ask us to take her back, all in our mind was to prevent her from getting close to my baby and taking out the knife etc, as warned by the police officer.

This is SG and not some third world country and she's a woman so we didnt expect all these episodes to happen. Also, she was treated like part of the family; ate salmon, drumsticks, Japanese brand ice-cream, slept in own bedroom with proper bed and mattress, and we even helped her shopped and brought her shopping to buy things back for her family and also arranged the courier for her big carton. Thus, was really a stab in our backs.

I was also very shocked when I received the letter from MOM to inform me that Siti Masidah has been successfully re-employed and new permit has been given.

It's a shocking and rude way to learn how to handle maid for a first timer and we are still learning with the current one.

Before getting her, we read forums on guidelines on what to expect etc but nothing beats real time experience.

Hopefully Siti has learnt her lesson and is good to the current employer

gosh !! luckily my agent is the type who never hesitates to send any of her maid back if they are not serious about working or are doing such nonsense.

Well, first of all, the agency is responsible for next to nothing. And, they are held accountable for next to nothing, too! bobo99 I know how it feels - been there, done that, and cried rivers cos I blamed myself for all the bad decisions I made. I too, just gave birth and was managing 3 kids (and bad maids, and even worse agencies!)...

About costs and rights of the employer: Having paid agency fees ($1500), maid loan, insurance, etc etc - My contract stated that if I repatriate the maid, I would lose all the loan amount. However, if I let her lingo in the system for 21 days for transfer, I could \"transfer\" the balance of her loan onto my next maid with the agency. If I did anything to jeopardize her transfer (police report, blogs, forum, etc), then I would also lose the loan. (again, I do not agree with the system at all! Just no choice, and hopefully don't get those really horrible case!)

Of course, by then I was down more than $3000 with the F*&!@ agency :stupid: :stupid: which was why I cried rivers 😢 😢 So, I had to think, do I put more money with the same agency, or change agency, etc etc. Of course, by then, the agency had collected so much money from us and we are the low-priority employers. All good candidates given to the NEW, unsuspecting employers - make more $$. So, this is the current system, and the problem with the system. Agency takes no responsibility, and neither does the maid. Everything is on the employer.

Hang in there... I do hope that you find someone that is right for your family. Also, if I were you, I'd try out infantcare. Even with maid, many babies still go to infantcare. Better quality of care and engagement, and babies love babies!

I saw this page previously too. When I clicked the CPF link, it just linked to CPF main page. 😢

You will receive a letter from MOM and the instructions to renew the permit online is indicated there.

If I remember correctly, it also states the minimum validity period required for the passport. The Myanmar embassy is located at Nassim Road in case you need to renew it. 1 day affair. The new passport will be ready around late evening. Think the appointment can be made online. Not sure if they entertain walk - in.

You will need to renew her insurance. This is a pre - requisite before your online application for renewal.

I did not do it myself as I was too busy but the above are the steps based on my agent's status updates during my recent renewal. Took about 2 weeks.
