Shichida or Glenn Doman or both?

Mincy, I believe in one basic rule. In order to be our children best teachers, we must make everything else fun. Home environment is the most important environment for any child. I will keep trying on my baby if I find that she loves doing or learning some things outside of her home environment! So why not do the puzzles with your son at home like at shichida classes? doing at home with mummy or daddy should be more fun than doing with strangers at this age..but then again, every kid is individual.. good luck and thks for the replies! appreciate alot! let me go play the finger puppet with my gal now! she is waiting !Hi hi,
The class environment is sometimes conducive of the kids trying out the items. e.g. my boy will never do puzzles on his own at home or even with coxing but in class he had been improving in doing the puzzles and some of the other activities as well. -
Hi Everyone
I am new to this forum. Just to share my baby is with Schicida Methods. I have never try GD so not sure how good they are. Well as for Shichida it just need a lot of parents commitment from home. I parents have time to practice at least 15 mins a day. Then it will be great. You will see improvement otherwise you may not see results.
Anyone heard ofo My smart Baby also doing flashcard at Seletar Hill ?
I did the trial prog. I like their flashcards and they also teach foreign language in their flash cards plus Tang Shi. But be prepared to enter a noisy environment with all the maids chatting at one corner.

Hi Alice, i think whatever program still requires parents committement. No program will work unless parents do the revision at home..I decided against shicida for now coz i am doing Glenn doman with her myself at home. Its not easy also. Once you move on to second stage, there is more committment. I heard about the smart baby thing but like all I read, the first person to start flashcard is Glenn Doman, the rest even like shichida just takes from GD and add other things to it.. my baby knows San-zhi-jing (the ancient chinese 3 word book) coz daddy reads and chants to her every night whether or not she is listening, but now she can rrecognize it the minute we start or we put the CD or VCD on. Now we moving on to Tang shi but we will still do revision for San-zhi-jing by letting her watch the VCD which explains each sentence meaning once a while. Also I am starting to revise all the old words I flash to her before by printing out on A4 paper photos or pictures of the word and the word itself.. My maid does this revision for me in the afternoon while i am at work.. She will flash 5 cards to her each afternoon and then explain each card.. I think revision is also important.. Since I opened her to word flashing now I want to revise them with visual so she can relate the words with visuals.Hi Everyone

Hi quixation,
very interested in the san zhi jin video you were referring to. I have started to flash the 1st paragrah to him 2 months back but I think its one of his least favourite cards.
Personally, I think Schichida and GD methods really have quite similar philosophy and methods. I don’t think Schichida is too serious, basicaly its about less than 5 mins of flash cards a day. There are less rules with the flash cards other than the math portion so we can flash anything—I think GD have more guidance on the flash cards though. -
my son is 30months. he doesnt like to learn letters of the alphabets. However, he likes books. He can repeat the sentences to me. eg: deepavali is the festival of lights. can "read" the whole book of 14 pages.
how can i encourage him to recognise words ? -

According to those Shichida methods and others such right brain school, what they teach is that you do not need to purposely make him recognize words, just read to them, flash the word and picture to them and their right brain will be at work automatically. If they don't show sign of recognising it, it does not mean they are not learning, just that the brain is subconsciously absorbing it, especially true in young children. They are like a magnet for knowledge.my son is 30months. he doesnt like to learn letters of the alphabets. However, he likes books. Personally, I feet that is true especially for kids, there is a stage where they just input without output, so we should not give up when we don't see sign of them responding, the time to output is not ripe yet. -

Yeah.. GD book says we are not supposed to 'TEST' the babies now coz it will make them think that we give because we want something back from them.. the first thing GD teaches is to respect the babies. I think they are absorbing and will help later in their education.. As for the alphabet, I decided against teaching my baby the alphabet because I am flashing words so i dont want to confuse her. Why give her a A when she can have Apple, which is more meaningful and more practical? And if she knows Apple, then she knows that it starts with A and spells with PPLE..i dunno how to explain it hope you understand wat i mean..In fact, GD books says that babies who are taught the alphabet before words finds it more difficult to read then babies who are not taught the alphabet! so i guess your 30mth old belongs to the latter! thats great so why bring her backwards? Why not move her forward and learn more things..erm begin phonics maybe?

since we are talking about whether to have Schichida or Glen Doman...there is a product that claims to combine the two :

Any body come across them before? -
Hi, Chief
My girl is 20 months and able to pronounce & recognise A to Z & 1 to 10 but not words. Is she too late for Glen Domin? -
Hi Chrismei,
I think Glen Doman is for kids up to 6 yars old, so not too late at all. An I think less than 2 year old kid can recognise A- Z and 1- 10 is very good already.
Do your girl say the words like pa pa, ma ma ?
