If we opt for cca i understand most cca would finish at abt 12 noon. Are parents allowed to fetch the kid out for a quick lunch after cca or to bring lunch for them? Though time is a little tight to be back by 1230pm.

I think most girls will usually buy lunch from the canteen. But that said, I have seen (albeit once) a family member bringing lunch in for the child (that was the only day I happened to be in the sch. Other times, I have no idea if that parent brings food every week...haha).
There are other ways to get around it...e.g. ensuring our DDs eat a hearty, healthy breakfast and we pack a good lunch box for their recess. In this way, if DD really does not eat much during lunch due to lack of time, at least she would have had a good breakfast, and would be having a good recess (hopefully, if she doesn't go and play instead...).
In the beginning, maybe the girls may be shy etc. But as the weeks go by, they will have their friends and if all the friends buy food from the canteen, they will probably want to do the same. Hehs. The school is quite strict about the students being seated in the hall (and quiet) by 12.30pm. -

I have the same concern. That's why I think since cca not compulsory I may choose to opt out at p1 for cca. -
mine is really looking forward to the ccas. she is interested in dance and gymnastics. are these normally so popular that not everyone who applies gets in?

for Primary 1 -mine is really looking forward to the ccas.
she is interested in dance and gymnastics.
are these normally so popular that not everyone who applies gets in?
a) Rhythmic gymnastics Cca :
priority is given to those who had won award(s), before.
in your Cca application form submission -
Pupil may state the name of award she had won before
(if applicable)
because Rhythmic gym differentiate between :
school Team (represent school) or just a normal, recreational Cca.
School pick the best, to join school team.
some P1 pupils who had won award(s) -
are invited to join school team.
Trainers (coach) tend to pay more attention & focus more, on school Team players, during training.
If pupils have prior ballet training before, but zero Rhythmic gymnastics background, to start with :
pupil may join the Recreational team.
What happen if my child neither gym experience, and neither ballet dance background ?
Yes, your daughter can still join Recreational team : if got vacancies.
This year, there are pupils who join.
what gym apparatus gymnasts will learn to handle (from P1 to P6) :
level 1 : freehand
level 2 : ball, rope, freehand
level 3 : hoops, clubs, freehand
If vacancies are limited :
Priority given to P2s first, before the P1s.
When submit the Cca application form :
parents may list down more than one Cca choices, stating their preference.
b) Chinese Cultural dance Cca :
easier to join (no pre-requisite required)
also less competitive (compared to Rhythmic gym)
Pupils without any dance background :
may join.
Chinese dance doesn't differentiate whether pupil from school Team or normal dance Cca, since every pupil participate as a Performing Arts group, together.
from P3 to P6 :-
Chinese dance invited to perform during SYF & other festive occasion(s), or at school function.
The commitment to weekly dance practice :
will increase to more than once session per week, during SYF, etc.
If vacancies are limited :
Priority given to P2s first, before P1s.
c) Choir Cca :
no pre-requisite -
dardar63:
Cca end by 12 noon.

some end earlier, before 12 noon.
They have half an hour break, before go up Assesmbly Hall : 12.30 pm
for P1s & P2s taking Cca :
Cca Tr mark pupil's attendance.
School need a minimum percentage of Cca attendance : before Form Tr certified & recorded, inside Year end Report card, that your child had attended the Cca, for one year.
If your child unable to attend Cca, on a particular day of Training :
need to drop an email to inform the Cca Tr in charge, explaining the reason for absence.
else if child absent a few times, never inform Tr :
Tr will ask the parent, \"Why never turn up, for Cca ?\"
Once a pupil take on a Cca :
not allowed to change the Cca halfway through for another different Cca, until the following new year beginning Term 1 start again.
If a pupil decide to stop Cca halfway, on her own accord (for whatever reasons) :
any amount of small, nominal Cca fees charged upfront and been paid up previously -
No refund.
Thus, consider P1 Cca carefully, if your daughter decide to join one.
There are parents who put P1 Cca on hold (since is optional) :
they prefer their child to settle down P1 first, manage academic first. -
My daughter keen for sports cca eg basketball. But I’m
Worried 10-12pm then very hot and sweaty. Left with 30 mins lunch and be also uncomfortable rest of the afternoon in school.
Is it common for parents to switch cca p1 and p2 ? -
Or could we try out a few lessons of the cca and withdraw if timings etc don’t work out well for us?

perhaps your daughter can bathe there, after sweaty basketball Cca, running around catching basket ball.
some Cca end around 11.45 am : instead of 12 noon.
(need to ask your Cca Tr : what time Cca end ? )
P1 Basketball :
No pre-requisite required.
can join
Yes, there are some pupils that changed Cca.
example
some changed Rhythmic gym (Recreational) Cca in P1 -
to another Cca in P2.
normally, they try their best to stick to the completion first -
because doesn't look nice : if drop out halfway.
better to have Cca recorded inside Year end Term 4 Report card first.
Next year come January, then change Cca.
