Anyone with kids at Numberlinks Bishan, which teaches Enopi Maths too?

I realised that this is not one of the outlets list under the Enopi Maths website.
My kid goes to numberlinks, but i am just curious as to what is the difference.

From my observation, it really depends on their foundation. If they are already strong in multiplication and division by P2, actually I feel that P3 is not a big jump.

But unlike P1 and P2, children are not expected to score full marks in P3. In some instance, I also heard of children with a drastic drop in scores.

But looking at my P3, probably learning in advance does help. It appear more like a natural and smooth progression for her. I just saw her CA paper which she scored 81/100. I dunno what is the top scores and average scores for the paper as they don't publish so I dunno where she stands. Some people say the paper is difficult while I find the paper Ok. I feel that if not for careless mistakes eg. add wrongly so minus 1 mark here and there, never read instruction properly, she could have easily obtained band 1 results. There are some questions where the entire class got it wrong. Mainly those heuristic focus question where no clear numbers are given.

For instance, she is now learning about those area and perimeters in Enopi (eg. area of triangle, rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram,etc...) I saw in the P3 text, they only cover the basic area of some shapes. But in Enopi, she is expected to do the calculation and also in some instance calculate the missing height information. With the examples and guidance, she is trying to cope with the questions though it can be daunting at times so we need to guide her alot. But I am sure when she overcomes the topic with better understanding, it'll be a breeze when they do this subject in class later on.

My kid also enrol in numberlinks, i find it quite okay. Basically, i believed that their enopi maths is about the same as other programme. Just that they are also emphasis in the area of analysis maths once they reach P1 or P2 depends on their capability.

I am not quite sure the other outlet offer anything outside of Enopi. Initially, I was also enquiry programme from other outlet, but i come upon their website. I just go ahead and have no regret because i felt that children must really enjoy their math and build up their basic foundation else the higher level they go, they might dislike math more if they cannot perform.

This is only my thinking at my end.

So generally in P1 & P2 is quite a norm for them to score 100% in Maths.Once they have reach P3 we would see a drastic drop in the marks?Something like 80-85?

Maybe would consider join Enopi Maths so that can be fully prepared when they hit P3.

Hi,

Quite norm for some kids (not all) to score 100%. Reason being that there are alot of kids out there who are careless so they tend to lose marks this way. :roll:

You can also consider MPM. I've not seen their program before but I think it's quite close to Enopi :? In any case, my personal opinion is that these 2 programs should be better than Kumon.

I am totally agreed with kids tend to be careless and might be another reason due to their illegible handwriting. Even my kid also got this issue, he tend to be careless.

Maybe it would advisable to look at the other programme. For parents with Kids in Enopi, this is what our comments for.

I also want to add that personally I feel that it’s good to start kids young so that they can progress through the levels faster given their early exposure to the program.

Eg. K1 is quite a good age though what they are doing is very elementary. Eg. my K1 is only at level 2 currently but it sure provide a good foundation and training for her to know her numbers confidently and also count correct as they tend to be careless when counting currently. Now is her 3rd month in Enopi and I observed that she is starting to get the hang of 5’s. Eg. if there are 19 dots, when she 1st started, she would count 1-19 all over again and again so it takes time. Now we get her to observe the dots (eg. if she see 3 rows of 5 dots, she knows it’s 15 so she will start counting from 15 onwards and this improves her speed).

I personally find that language should be taught first. It is not difficult to teach phonics at home.


For those who is interested to teach phonics at home, you may need to

1. buy My Preschool World series of Phonics Books at Popular bookstore.The sounds are very clear and easy to learn. Is great tool to learn the blending/sounds. However the words are too little.

It has 4 readers + 4 activities + 2 enrichment activities + 2 vcd.

3. Children must learn letter sounds first. Please use my preschool world reader and activities and vcd 1. Then progress accordingly.

I agree with MMM that K1 is indeed a ideal age to start, I started my boy when he was in K1 and now in P1, in fact he is covering P2 work. The program allows the child to learn at his/her capability rather than what is being taught in school.


And they do helped to prepare the kids for CA, SA too I notice that recently have another new branch in Kembangan, good news for eastlanders like us
