If gap betwn COP n score is 5mark or 10mark, any chance?

Just my personal opinion, I think it is way too big a gap. Looking at the top score range this year, doubt it will have such a big gap vs last year's.

So far from past year's experience, there is seldom such a big drop. I supposed you can take your chance if it is just 1 out of the 6 choices, and make the rest of the choices as close to your T-score range as possible if that is what you prefer. My advice is to stick close to your T-score range to prevent disappointment of not getting into any of your choices at all.

If you're prepared to appeal, I think you stand a chance. So don't give up on that school just yet.

My advice to parents who got headache helping your child choosing sec school.

Pls be reminded that S1 sec sch selection is done by merit. Let me explain how the S1 system work.
The MOE S1 system will allocate the highest score student from the top and allocate the selected choice of sch according to the sch vacancy. If the top 100 student filled up the vacancy one of the good sch A then the next student rank 101 will not get his/her first choice of that good sch A as it have no vacancy left and the system will allocate the child 2nd choice of sch. The system then slowly work his way down according with the child result, then follow by the choice of the sch selection from 1st choice down to the last choice. If by the time none of the 6 choice chosen was not allocate, then MOE will allocate the student according to his house proximity and sch available place. This is the Risk if no proper planning and consideration to selecting sec sch.

And another thing, for those who wanted his/her favourite sch badly, it will be better to put them as 1st choice as in the event they dun get the 1st choice sch and wanted to Appeal to that sch if you miss the COP by 1 or 2 points. At least you have sufficient ground for an appeal as they might consider accepting you as you have put them as 1st choice. I have heard last year some student dun get their first few choice of sch and go to appeal to the sch where the child put it as 3rd choice and they sch didn’t accept the child as she didn’t put them in as first choice.

So parents, pls help your child to select the sch wisely according to the 2013 sch cut off point and dun risk getting posted to a neighbourhood sch by MOE from non of the 6 choices.

              Good Luck!!

Yes, definitely should try and put it as 1st choice. U can put 1-2 points higher for your 1st 2 choices - u never know, u may get it as the score may fluctuate up and down by 1-2 points.

                  Thanks for the advice.

BTW how do we appeal if can’t get in the 1st choice of school missed by 1 mark from COP.

St Hilda did quite well, it is my 1st choice for my elder son. Will be competitive for next year's enrollment.
