GetMeThinking has detail examples on how to solve problem sums using models, followed by questions to practice what you have learnt. I flipped through one book only, borrowed from a friend. They have books for various levels, like P5 book 1 and 2.


onSponge also has the same format, but the examples, as far as I have seen in the P3-4, they are not quite enough.

Someone in the forum mentioned another book, title is something along the line of math model ...strategy...can't recall offhand. A friend also recommended to me, so I popped by Popular to take a look. They have books for 3 levels- lower, upper and advance (or something similar. These are very good books, in my opinion. Detail explanation on different methods to solve different model questions. Very well organized. however, they only have like 3 questions per topic. So these are like text books.

Hope you can find books or tools suitable for you and your children.

This is the book that has only 3 questions for each topic. Npbut what I like about it is for every line of information provided, the answer key explains why the model or unitary method is done that way.

There's another but I haven't started on it at all with DS.

That, to me, is the worst nightmare! :yikes:

Currently, giving an example of a 2A2A* results can have students ranging from 23X to 25X. With the T-score clearly indicated, the kid can choose the preferred schools within the range. If T-score is removed from results slip, there is still a backend system of meritocracy that is required to place the kids into secondary schools, but now we have no visibility of the range. Given that most kids will have similar results, how to choose the appropriate schools :scratchhead: - too high you get rejection, too low you are short-changed.....

If you ask me, I rather know the T-score than to be kept in the dark......it is just a removal of visibility from so-called \"kiasu\" parents but if this is 换汤不换药, I would hate to have that visibility removed and make me more \"blind\" :nailbite:

Hi hi,can any kind soul help me understand how T-score will be calculated for a child who has exempted Mother Tongue?? My child joined school here in p3 so she was eligible to exempt MT,so we did that for him.That time ppl told that in PSLE result ,he will not be effected and there is a fair way to deal with it.

Is it??? How they will calculate aggregate t-score out of three subjects then??

my daughter has also been exempted from MT.
I am still worried how she will fare and if there will be any major changes which will affect her entry to secondary school.

Yes, totally agree. Got a few friends with kids who sat for psle this yr. With the T-scores, they were also having headache selecting schools for their kid. 2 years later will be my turn. Without t-scores, I think I will go :frustrated:

I also start to feel the stress. My friend's dd cried when she got her results. Another I know whose child always in top 5 in her school but got only 220+ for psle. Her mum was shock as she was expecting at least 250 or even 260. Having good results in school
doesn't equal to good results in psle. I hope I won't 2 yr later when my ds1 rec his results.

How I envy.. :rahrah: My ex-neighbour's kid got into DHS via DSA (academic).... And the school is only 2mins walk from their home.
