The awards are top in each of the subject: Maths, Physics…, English, Higher Chinese, Normal Chinese etc as well as Principal’s List - top 10.

There are loads of other recognition, CCA achievements, Leaders, even Class Reps.
But seriously, the point is not really about competing to get the book prizes from Year 1 to Year 6.
Every often, some students will excel in the earlier years, others will start to mature in the later years and overtake the early developers.
This is especially so when the year 5/6 curriculum is pitched at Uni module and becomes more research oriented.
But in general, there is greater recognition for those who excel in the olympiads especially maths, physics etc and SMPF. Of course, there are some who manage to clinch the book prizes in addition to olympiads.

But you seems more like grilling and more like a interrogation session more than anything esle. I know which thread you are from and probably also guessing the reason why and what you are doing, despite being a grandmaster in here. NUSH is celebrating its 10 years nexy year. It is growing nicely as a school in many areas while it reputations and advantage as non-traditional \"O\"/\"A\" level is attracting many potential students (both girls and guys) see as a top notch environment (especially those science-biased students) to traditional 2 Rs. Also NUSH is less \"elitish\" as students are not \"classified\" as GEPs or mainstream. Every students is given the same opportunity and time to develop themselves.

As a parent, I am glad my DD joined the school . As a science-biased student, she is in much better position and in a better environment than if she has follow her fellow friends in another school.

We are in the midst of choosing the school for Exchange Programme


Please, please please share your ( or child's) experiences. What are the factors that mattered to you? Is there some advise you wanna share - for the child, the parent?

I am trying to collate the list of all things to consider , which while it may differ in importance from person to person, hopefully covers most factors.

What we have brain stormed so far in no particular order
1. Travel dates (Is there a clash with any other commitment? )
2. Dates for playing the host.
3. Cost
4. Host Country/Language barriers/ food /weather
5. School - culture/ feel from the school website , opinion/feedback about the exchange students who have visited the previous years from that school ...
6. School - is it like one of the best Maths/Science school in the country?

The last one we are not even sure if it should play a role but we put it in.

Based on past COPs, I think 252 is a little low for entry.

But there's no harm trying!

The cut-off point for the DSA Phase 2 - PSLE varies each year. In year 2013, the cut-off point was 257.
