hi auntiemHi foreverj,
Just hope that the freelance Chinese teacher from China is teaching 'localised' Chinese
what do u mean localised chinese? must say her pronunciation is excellent - voice is loud and clear. pity my dd does not want to go for classes. may stop soon leh...thinking to let my wallet take a break too hehe.. -
cafelatte:
thanks, but they only offer it once a week and the timing does not suit me.acforfamily
If you are looking for P4, confirm Tanglin CC has ongoing class now. -
Hi foreverj,
If she sounds okay to you then should be alright. My friend’s kid attended private chinese tuition and realised that not only the ‘slang’ is different, so depending on where the tutor is from… -
auntieM:
understand. 'cept for the occasional word which I feel has strong dialect accent, her pronunciation is good. anyway, i may try out berries again. looking for something with a more balanced curriculum with writing and speaking.Hi foreverj,

Hi foreverj,
Good idea, especially now 'oral' chinese got more weightage

Hi, I wish to enrol my 4 yrs old son into Berries at Bt. Batok CC as that is the nearest for me…
can mummies with kids at that branch share some feedbacks? Which teacher is good?
Tks!! -
I think which school to choose really depends on the child and teacher chemistry? I used to think Tian Hsia is ‘so-so’ when I enrolled my K2 son into the course. Now in P1, I thought was good, since I do see much progress. So key important factor in any enrichment classes is ‘TEACHER AND CHILD CHEMISTRY’

You have a point too

Agree with adafew, DS chinese improves when one of the teachers (PRC teaches Chinese) specially take care / fond of him (though DS in childcare). Believe that \"teacher children chemistry\" does play a part.

hi rayjay & ca3kids,
What have you selected at the end? My boys used to be in Eduplus at Toa Payoh Safra, they have great teachers! Once they decided to move out and located at Bishan Blk 238, I heard from my colleague it was a disappointment. The teachers that I know used to teach in TP Safra is teaching in their east branch. She is a great teacher, and my elder son was in her class for 2 years and in P2 - my son did 96 for his SA2 and in P3, 89 for P3 SA2. He scored well in his MT compositions for most of the examinations in P3. Till now even he is no longer in Eduplus, the foundation that she had given to my son, is really strong. He is in P4, he did 16/20 for his CA1 composition (can be better but lost marks for wrong strokes and some words he used han yu pin yin). She was very kind to mark my son’s home assessment too (only the comprehension), and my son had great improvement at that section and at most just 2 to 3 marks deducted.
For my younger son, he did not benefit much in the Eduplus for the past 3 years. In fact, I can see a great improvement when he is in Jiang Education - L2 GP Program. I have even gave the school CL HOD to go thru Jiang’s material, she gave me a thumbs up and even recommended a lot of the parents to consider this centre.
I would say it is really individual and importantly you must know where is the weakness of your child and have to focus more on that area.
