I cannot affirm or deny because my MOE contacts have never said anything to me about the decimal point part. I'm just being plain honest with what I know and what I don't. I don't want to get hopes up or down with information that I cannot vouch for.[/quote]Every year at the briefing for P6 parents all these made known to parents - t score formula, SD, posting procedure, decimal pl etc
But it is also possible that the kids with the +3 also happen to have higher value after the decimal point, right?Nebbermind:

S1 posting is indeed computer determined. Beyond that, how the computer system works exactly is known only to the people in the relevant department in MOE. I have not been able to verify the issue of the decimal place, so I can't comment.
Regarding what I've said about how a SAP school ranks aggregate scores, I can comment on that because I have verified the information with people who are qualified to comment. That's all.
Appreciate your transparency -

1) CATHOLIC HIGH (249) (246+2= 248)
2) VICTORIA SEC (247)
3) SJI (245)
4) CHUNG CHENG MAIN (241) (246+2= 248)
5) NAN HUA HIGH (245) (246+2=248)
6) FAIRFIELD SEC (241)
All the above school are affiliated except for Nan Hua High. Would appreciate any advice or feedback.
Thanks !

Hi Dreamgear,
May I ask if you've any advice on Maris Stella Sec? Actually, my son's more on Eng speaking based, do you think I should put Maris Stella before Chung Cheng Main & Nan Hua although COP for the later both schools are higher than Maris Stella at 236.
Pls advice. Thks!

Your #1 choice CHS is express or IP?
You stay in central? How come it's an hour from Bishan? Or do you stay in Rochor/Bras Basah/Farrer Central planning zone?
Hi jetsetter,
I stay in Cantonment area:) Honestly, I prefer a more English environment school
Dreamgear quote : Nowadays kids mostly speak in english.... Maris stella is brother school of catholic high and enjoy bonus points for cjc.
All 3 are sap schools, if your kids prefer boys schools, can consider acsi and maris stella
Hi Dreamgear,
I'm not sure if I should consider acsi as it's cop was 249 last yr & means 3 pts away from my son's cop of 246. Worried I may waste a chance if put 1st choice incase I need to appeal as it's easier to appeal for a 1 pt difference hence I put CHS as 1st choice.
Are you trying to advice me to consider putting maris stella to replace Chung Cheng main? :?
Pls advice. Thks! -
LifeIsGreatInSG:
RVHS is SAP and IP(A) track. You need to think if 2nd choice you are looking for similar schools. If so, CHS IP is one option. Thanks, Pixiedust and Woodgrove.
I am happy if my son can get in RVHS, but to play safe, what's the next school you will recommend for his 2nd choice?
Thanks again.
The other 2 schools your listed : BPGHS, NHHS are O level tracks.
The preference of distance, SAP/NON-SAP/IP-O-IB etc... will help you to decide your 2nd choice. -

I don't need to jeopardise my friend's job to prove anything. If indeed you say that the briefing for P6 parents the decimal place system is made known to parents, it is very interesting that in my years of tutoring and having good relationships with many parents whose kids are in many different primary schools, I've not heard parents mention this after P6 briefings. Perhaps my students are somehow not studying in Singaporean primary schools? I doubt it. The only place I see this decimal place thing being mentioned is on KSP forums. It could be true; it's just that I've not been able to independently verify this. Is it a problem that a person reserves comment on something he/she is unable to independently verify?

by saying \"appreciate your transparency\" it means I appreciate you are being transparent admitting you have not heard of it as a tutor until you read about it in ksp.
I just went through my back up drive on those school briefing materials over the years when my kids were in primary school. It has long being established as a fact on the number decimal places in the t-score, and the school reproduces the scoring system from pri 5 onward for each of the subject report given to the pupil/parents, every subject every semester for every pupil -
My son school didn’t brief on decimal place or t score or deviation. The p6 briefing only covers the vision of the form teacher and stress management.
Nothing was given on deviation etc, class ranking for every level.
Teacher said don’t need to worry. -
