No idea (for SC).
But I have heard of some pri school where the kids probed others on what was given on Teachers' Day or how come nebber give...but even that could be an innocent question.

We were impressed with SC including my girl and she had been asking all her friends to apply; but now she has doubts:


1) Someone told SC girls tend to be bullies and during birthdays, girls are pressured/obliged to buy branded goods as presents for their friends.


What's the big deal? I too chipped in money to buy branded, expensive birthday gifts like Guess watch and that was like 20yrs ago in a neighbourhood sec sch. Agree this can happen in any schools!


2) She read Rui En's wiki and quoted \"She took up ballet as a co-curricular activity in Primary Five but gave up in Secondary One, citing the pressure of coming from a wrong socio-economic classas the reason\"


She is just being too negative lah. Wrong socio-economic class? I read in someone's blog, whole class of RGS girls, like only 2 stayed in HDB. She also proceed to join the Raffles Family later on what.


Now she had the impression that \"something is wrong with SC\". Anyone care to comment soon as we have to make a choice by tommorrow.

Not fair to say that. She is now a confident and articulate, well-liked young lady. Also did well enough to join RJ later on. She should thank SC for that!

So far have not come across nor heard.. but I think as parents, it is for us to educate our kids on what kind of values and stand we want to take , not just in school, but in varying different circumstances. No one will really be able to comment on such sweeping remarks unless they have personal encounters. Just my take.

side note - to 2015 Year 1 parents , the reporting info is already available on the school website... in case you are interested.

Hi Tanlines. I am in SCGS and currently a Primary Six Student who just finished my PSLE. As I had only joined SC in Primary 4, I thought that it would be harder for me to make friends as the girls have already met 3 years before. However, I had to beg to differ as my classmates, and schoolmates even, welcomed me with open arms. Over the course of 3 years, I have bonded so close to each and everyone of them.


No, they do not require branded gifts as their birthday presents. All they need is a gift that comes sincerely from the heart and as the saying goes,’ it’s the thought that counts’. As for point no. 2) I cannot agree as that happened to be Rui En’s batch of class/school mates. And do not judge the whole school because of the doings of some girls, no offense.

To me, I find that SCGS is like a second family where you can count on everyone. Although I do not know what it’s like in SC SEC, I can assure you that most girls in SC Pri would continue their studies in SC SEC. Hence, I feel that going to SC SEC is a good choice and I hope that your daughter would be in her preferred choice of school by next year.

P.S. I am not trying to persuade you to send your daughter to SC, but I hope you consider what I’ve just said and may it help in choosing the perfect sec school for your daughter:)
