Did u see the top scorers' for this year's A levels?

GEPers did not top the cohort!
Is this another cause for concern?
Recently heard of a GEP student we know who went from TNS to Nanyang Girls and heard she had to redo her \"O\"s..... So it doesn't mean that GEP guarantees the child's future success. It's still the attitude that matters most.

in MOE's eyes, this failure is a highly exceptional case only...

How come NYGH has got to do 'O' level? thought they are IP?

Similiarly, it could happen to any top PSLE students who choose to slack in their sec sch years.

just met the principal of an IP sec school over the weekend : the message to parents is this : the kids will be transferred to do 'O' level if they are not consistent in their work from sec 1 to sec 3, at least they will have 'O' level if they don't do 'well enough' to cope with through train to 'A' level, or at least the transfer will wake him up from his / her playful ways in the sec school

GEP is no guarantee for one's success but at least opportunities are there if the kids know how to grab it, capitalise on the resources poured unto them to do well, and hopefully they will repay society through the various channels

only the top students from NYGH go to Hwa Chong in IP train, not every one qualifies

What is the criteria of them making to HCJC for IP and 'O' students there? and how many percentage are there joining 'O' classes?

I think getting into GEP does not mean one can relax and cruise the way through. It should be the beginning of the next phase in life to work even harder to keep up with the requirement. It is all depend how the child cope with the load. I think most will get even more motivated and stimulated with the material taught in the GEP lessons.

Can check with the principal of NYGH. Sorry I have no idea. Suffice to say that not all NYGH students make it to HCJC and the number of students in HCJC is evidence that only some got in.

Do the math : HCI intake is about 450 at sec 1, plus the NYGH intake at sec 1 = much much more than the number of graduates from HCJC.....that means many from NYGH did not get into HCJC, and some might have gone to RJC/Dunman after year 4 in NYGH

those kids if not for the GEP curriculum will be very bored with the PSLE syllabus as they are fast learners, hence the more in depth studies for them to learn more than exam scope
