definitely misleading...may be not intentional by st nick but played up by media

if there were no through train program in the 'top 4' schools.....the best O levels results will not come from st nick..... πŸ¦†
Well, SNG takes in affiliated girls with much lower T score...not fair to compare with schools with mostly >250 kids.

        not much lower

last time 230, now 240, soon may be 245/250

same for SCGS...the cop for affiliated girls are targeted to go up progressively though they wanted to go up quickly .... parents fought against it

every year : slowly raise 5 points, until one day reach 245 or 250, for O level intake.
while waiting for MOE to churn out Sec school posting results, pondering below qn :

            - between SCGS IP and CHIJ St Nicholas IP
which one will you choose, suppose able to meet Cut off point no issue, and sch fees ($300 at Scgs vs $28 per month at St Nick, no issue), distance to school also no issue.

If $ and distance are not a problem, I will choose SCGS. I am a bit biased : p bcos I hv met many SC girls who r v gd in Eng and accomplished in the biz world. I m not keen on SAP schs bcos I will worry if my child can cope with the HMT std there.

To share with you why i chose scgs for my DDs.

I remembered watching Channel 8 News few years back which featured St Nic topping O'level. Disappointed that the top scorer was an invited scholar from Malaysia to join in sec 3. In Ksp 2011 thead, parents were discussing that for past couple of years, St Nic top scorers were all Malaysian invited to join St Nic from some top Selangor pri schs. Even my friends with dds inside st nic are not happy about this. I don't need the sch to produce top scorer every year but would rather the sch devote time and resources to groom our own girls. Glad to say, scgs is developing its girls and not just importing talents. :siam:
To each his or her own. One can also say Sngs has a longer history of being a top school even before the recent o level results. Being situated in a neighborhood with different housing types including hdb flats also means a better mix of socio-economic backgrounds, which I know has been a consideration for some parents.

not yet, still need to wear pri sch uniform for reporting :salute:

oops  forgot that. after wearing that primary school uniform for 6 years, you can finally hang it up AFTER reporting.

need to wear for psle cert collection, reporting to sec sch posted to on 22nd, when appealing to the school you DC wants. Lastly, (for those appealing) have to wear till appealing has been confirmed or not.
So iron till straight straight ya! πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚
how about during Edusave Scholarship Award which usually in Jan?

                    what so unhappy ?

if they don't top in St Nick, they will top in some other schools in SG.

they are hungry for success. we only hungry to gripe.

AND being top in St Nick or SG does not preclude other Singaporean students from obtaining the same results. O Level is not a ranking or placement exam

Not sure if all the sec schs are doing this but i find it kind of misleading to let whole Singapore believe that St Nic has the ability to groom their children from P1 to Sec 4 to top their cohort with their consistent top scorers at O'level every year (IP not introduced then).

Unhappy bcos once again 'imported talents' strategy is used with limited resources. Don't tell me that the school has 'allocated resources' for these foreign students. Nowadays all resources are limited and scarce. You give some, you got to take some from somewhere else.

HMT should not be a concern

most people do HMT for the sake of passing it in Sec 4 β€˜O’ level so that does not have to deal with MT in JC years
HMT is useful when the child doesn’t get perfect UAS (university admission score) when applying for uni as it can be used to raise the score.

Collected DD’s PSLE cert fr sch today.

The cert does not show the agg total score except for the respective subjects with the grading. Wondering if this format just implemented or has been the same for past few years?
