whatever title in the booklist has to be bought, unless it is under 'optional'.

agree. but this year there were mandatory stuff that teachers didn't use. So I learnt a bit and only bought the A books (in case teacher use). If don't use the A, I will not bother to buy the B. :moneyflies:

if I don't stand beside hubby when he goes to pre-order online (pacific), he will get everything on the list :moneyflies: which was what happened one year. even the science textbooks which are compulsory are hardly used. for son in secondary school, the English textbook is not even used at all. :slapshead:

        Hi hquek

Yes, you are right. Think I should buy the science cycle txt+workbook & the rest only the A first. Onsponge no choice since no A or B.

When clearing the bookshelves, found the books bought but didn’t use or hardly used:
Social Studies 4A activity book used 2 pages
Social Studies 4B textbook, didn’t use at all
Social Studies 4B activity book didn’t use at all
English Grammar used less than 1/4 in 2 years
Science textbooks & work books. In 2 years, only flipped through in class once in a blue moon. 1 workbook didn’t even use at all.

Just calculated, textbooks & workbooks alone cost about $140. Then another $60 for exercise books & stationery (compulsory). :yikes:

school files can come up to quite a substantial amount.
exercise books, i cut down to just 3 single line.
other than that, have to buy...but science text book/workbooks are the lousiest...still have to buy :moneyflies:

I only intend to buy 活动本 & SS textbooks

School files can recycle from last year

CL texts & music books are dd1’s hand down copies

Will only buy the rest on need to basis when teacher said must buy

kids' files have been recycled for 2 years. fortunately, the quality is not bad. one thing I just do not understand...why make us buy science textbooks when they are so simplified? it just doesn't make sense.

:moneyflies: My p5 booklist is more than $230 if we were to buy every item, excluding some textbooks which are unavailable yet.

                      P3 booklist is slightly lower.
Science textbook cannot reuse cos they will be using edition 3. Math text also cannot reuse cos school decided to change publisher. Only textbooks that I can reuse are Chinese text 3A and 3B.

Spent almost $400 on books for 2 levels. Almost $200 on uniforms. School shoes not bought yet :moneyflies:

my damages this year is even crazy!

son's text books cost more than $300...daughter's books $150 :moneyflies: that's just books. son's uniforms today cost $75 and haven't bought school shoes yet.
ok, maybe his science books can last for 2 years (sec 3/4), but Chinese, English and E math have to buy again for sec 4.
