Oh no... I m panicking now. I really have no idea how to prepare my ds1 for psle. He is only willing to do EL grammar/vocab/s&t but not comprehension. Moreover new school nx yr. Hope he can adapt
next year p5 have to start preparing for psle...experience tells me the p6 year itself is very difficult and too short within 8 months to do anything.

Brings back bad memories of PSLE.

Me too... -
I will never forget 2012 psle bitter pill. we were not the least mentally prepared and do not know what to expect. it just hit us like huge rock.
for the time being, I don't want to think of 2016...but going to prepare daughter for a tough year ahead in 2015.
daughter dislikes comprehension more than composition...actually she dislikes both :frustrated:
sorry for the same old complaints :gloomy: -
My ds hates comprehension too. I notice the answers are all over the passage, will need to know how to extract the correct answers. No longer straight forward. My ds also hates the part with true/false.
Anyone has any tips on how to tackle comprehension? Thanks. -

answers are all over the passage...I told my daughter she has to read in-depth and give complete answers or she will not get the full mark. at upper primary, it will not be straightforward. those true/false questions have to be supported with answers too. she hates comprehension but I have to remind her time and again that her answers are NOT complete. My ds hates comprehension too. I make DS read the passage twice before attempting the questions. And when I do corrections with him, I ask him to tell me about the passage and ask him leading questions as we go along before jumping to the actual questions. At that time, I tell him to point out where the answer should be and then ask him why and so what if he answers a certain way. For questions that need him to select words from the passage to explain certain phrases, he's still not good. Ditto for true and false questions.
But getting there. At least he's writing down in complete sentences. Still does it once in a while. But not like a few months back when he'll just answer with, \"Sunlight blocked by tall trees\" if question asked why undergrowth has little plants. :faint: -
In a whoosh… my kids just reminded me that school holidays are coming to an end. Too short for them… too short for me too… lol.

my son reminded me. after 3 months (sec school exams end earlier), he told me he looks forward to start sec 3.
I dread to think of my daughter going to p5 though.
