My dd is keen to join the Performing Arts if she gets a place in Cedar.


Anyone cares to share how cca allocation is done in Cedar? Are the girls encouraged to try out at all auditions, or only a selected few? Any comments on Cedar handbells n guzheng? Dd is very impressed with Cedar Choir. Dd was not from any Performing Arts cca in her primary sch. Would that put her in a disadvantaged position?

Hi, no it will not. All the yr1 Cedarians r put thru a cca audition. The audition ranks the top 3 in that cca. Aft that, it is up to the girls to choose what they like. You dont hv to choose the cca u r ranked in and it doesnt mean u wont get the cca if u r not ranked.
My dd is from aesthetics in pri sch, she is in sports that she is ranked now. One of her fren was in pri sch orchestra and even heads it but she chose a sport now. In fact she performed so well for cross country during sports day. She was recently offered a place in t&f a few mths ago. She now has 2 sports cca which she wasnt ranked in.

Is it possible to appeal two times? My dd was selected into a sports cca at the start of the yr and she appealed into another sports cca and got in. Now its the end of the yr alr and my dd told me that she wants to quit and join av and photog. Is that possible? Worried that it will not be allowed. She says that sports cca is too tiring and stressful and she's not ready to be committed to it for 4 yrs. :xedfingers: Hope she's able to transfer cca successfully.

In my opinion...parent should explain to their children that once a decision had been made. They need to honor it. There are many students in sport CCA and indeed these are very tiring CCA that require commitment and determination. But they should be ready to accept it and the school won't go to the extend of letting CCA affecting a student learning ability. CCA is also like a character training ground for a child. Just my 2 cents.
