Great News.
I heard from LTA that two new bus stops are being constructed. The stops will be located by 547C and 548B. They will only be a short walk to the school from either bus stop. The services that will call at the stops are the following: 922, 972 and 971E. This is great news along with the news of the covered walkway from Jelapang LRT station to the School entrance.

:rahrah: This is great! -
A special message from Principal, Mrs Lim.
Dear Parents & Guardians,
It has very quickly come to the end of one year together in the West Spring family.
Thank you once again for your continuous support in many of our school events & programmes. Youโve been really such wonderful parents to have with us in our West Spring family.
We look forward to seeing you regularly in our school โ our Second Home, next year!
Mrs Jacinta Lim
Principal -
Just called the school book supplier, was informed to buy P1 chinese books when school re-opens. They also have no idea about the pricing at the moment.

Hi sfkwek,
last year there were also a few books that were unavailable until the term started. I would suggest that you telephone the school to confirm everything.

Hi.
Was disappointed that I have queued for nothing (intention to get the chinese books).
No notice was pasted on the wall. When I asked the book supplier, she merely told me she HAD already announced outside. BUT she said that she didnโt know if I was there when she announced. Apparently I was not there. If not, I wonโt be queuing up right to their counter! Terrible. She even told me that I can check with the publisher myself.
She mentioned she had informed the school. But I didnโt receive any information on it.
Quite disappointing that things turned out such way. Disorganised. -

Since I was alone, I started the uniform queue. After 40mins, ended up label not ready (Lady staff not very sure when can collect - Told me ask another staff).
So I joined the queue for books, ended up waited for 45 mins, queue did not seem to move so left forbanother appointment, feeling silly.
Wonder when will the Chinese books arrive. -
Same experience and worst as my mother went on behalf instead. She donโt understand English and said she queued for 2hour. Lady from bookshop simply said she has already announced in the morning and wrote a notice and pasted on the wall. Not her fault if people donโt read or miss the announcement.
How disorganized! Shouldnt we be informed via email? If not Shouldnt a notice or message be passed to the guard or station a bookshop staff outside to inform people? Seems like Working parents like me must take leave to buy a few school items since everything is in English! -
Dear Parents of P1 2015,
During P1 orientation sale of books, the bookshop vendor had informed parents that all P1 Mother Tongue books are currently still not available (this is happening in all primary schools in Singapore) and parents are also advised to call up the vendor to enquire on the arrival of these books before making a trip down to the school bookshop.
The name tags will be handed over to your childโs form teacher who will then hand them over to your child when school opens. -
West Spring Primary School:
I know there were no chinese books during the orientation Day. I was given the dates to come to make purchase of the chinese books. The bookshop vendor even wrote the dates (18th & 19th) on my booklist. But I wasnt advised to make a call 1st before going to the bookshop.Dear Parents of P1 2015,

Partly my fault to assume the books would be ready when I was given the 2 dates to make the purchase.
But the problem now is not all parents will call the book vendor to ask. I believe for parents who didnt call to ask in the 1st place, we won't mind to come down to a wasted trip IF there is a notice stated in the school. I only get to know the books are OOS after queuing for 1.5hrs. Some maybe even longer. -
Dear Parents,
I understand that this is a very important stage in your child's life. P1 is a new experience for not only the child but for the parents as well. I felt the same last year that I wanted everything ready for day 1 of school. :scared: :scared:
Sometimes there are hiccups that will happen and are beyond the control of the school, try not to let it spoil your experience of Primary school. Try to understand that the school and the book shop vendor are also waiting for the books to arrive. Please do call the vendor before making another journey to the school to purchase textbooks.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas to all our West Springers and their families. In a few weeks time the new school year will start, do try to enjoy the rest of the holiday.
