How come your DS is so good at info gathering?
My DS is super boh chiap. Didn't even remember that the posting of class is out on 10 Dec. We just check this morning. And he couldn't tell who is the top 3 in his class. He only know that he is not in top 3. :stupid:

Haha... cos most of his friends share all the information very openly and start calling each other after class allocation is out. Your DS is very good, very focussed. Actually, I will rather DS spend more time on his books than with his friends.

My DS definitely doesn't spend time on his books. He is just bo chiap about the competition out there. Prefer not to tell me less I nag him

The Parent Class Representative (PCR) might not have the parents' contact list for the class yet. The psg might take some time to compile the list and send it to the PCR. The class whatsapp chatgroup is usually created by the parents' ( most likely PCR initiative)... Not by psg.

my girl is born in 2011. And from what i know, tao nan school does not accept PV anymore.

so we thinking of the hokkien huay kuan route.

Can i know how early should i join hokkien huay kuan and do i need to do volunteer work for the clan too?

Also when will hokkien huay kuan issue the letter of recommendation? I heard that the clan does not issue such letters for all members but on a case by case basis. So by when will they issue out the letter so that we will know if we have a chance at phase 2B?

Every year the \"rules\" of the \"game\" changes, perhaps next year's \"rules\" are decided yet thus both the school and the clan are unable to provide the details.

I know that for Clan Members whose kids are going into Tao Nan P1 in 2015 did PV at the school from 2013-14.

I think it will be quite safe to bring 3A Math and 3A HCL and maybe the first unit of the Stellar worksheets.
As the first day is a Friday and usually there will be some settling in of the kids adjusting to a new class and a new form teacher, there will not be much lessons. Based on DS experience, the FT will then advise what else to bring the following week.

There used to have 3 ways of applying via Phase 2B - Grassroots route, SHHK route and TNS parent volunteer. The TNS parent volunteer (ie traffic warden) is now removed and \"subcontracted\" to SHHK. So now, it is SHHK who will determine the volunteer work of members to TNS or to SHHK. For the length of service, it really depends on the cohort which your DD is applying... i.e. if there are so many SHHK members applying for the school for that year, then the criteria (in term of hours of volunteer and year of service) is more stringent.

As for the letter of recommendation, not sure if it is changed already but it is usually issued when the registration has started, but before the Phase 2B. I remembered clearly we are very dilemma whether to apply for Phase 2A2 for DS as we have not received the letter of recommendation yet or to apply Phase 2B. Eventually applied phase 2A2 and pulled out later to apply for Phase 2B when the letter of recommendation is received.
