Anyone keen to buy used Sec 1 Hwa Chong text books (used in 2014), including German text book and dictionary? please PM me if interested. Thank you.

        Dear parents,

Though the music teacher will teach them the school song on the first day of Orientation (Monday), the Classical Chinese in the school song may be difficult to memorise on-the-spot. So, I suggest that your sons listen to the Hwa Chong school song this weekend to get familiar with it. The rest will be covered by the music teacher.

My DS will be in Year 1 and looking forward to the orientation.

When we were buying uniform and books, there were sales reps selling Time Magazine subscription outside the bookshop. They told us that every Friday the year 1 student would have to read the Time Magazine in preparation for GP. The rep said that it is compulsory for Sec 2. I bought a subscription thinking that it would be beneficial for my other DS who is Year 5 of another school’s IP

Meanwhile, can any parent enlighten if this is truly the case?

          Thanks!

My DS just completed his 1st yr. It is true they read different publications every week such as Straits Times, Zaobao and Times. The school subscribes and issues to the boys to read (2 share a copy). I think the subscription fees are covered through some miscellaneous fees we pay.

Hi parents, my son will be Year 1 in Hwa chong next year. May I ask how do you put on the button on to the sch uniform? We r struggling to put it on, worried that it might be troublesome to do so on sch mornings.

I don't know how to put as my ds did them the last time, and we didn't remove since πŸ˜†

Meaning we wash the buttons together with the shirts πŸ˜‰

I took the ring out from button, insert the button thru the holes and put the ring back

yes, you are supposed to take the ring out, put the button through then put the ring back.

Like Song22, we put ours in, sewed them in and have washed them this way ever since. lol πŸ˜„ buttons are less shiny but still look ok.

Thank you for your inputs. Wonder if I should have paid the subscription if the school would do so! Somehow the sales rep gave me the impression that every student has to subscribe to Times. Now that I have paid - I will make sure the two boys read them! (And I occassionally!)

I thought I was the only one struggling with it. LOL. Could the button be just attached to the flap of the pocket instead of the entire pocket. It is really hard to fasten the button to the entire pocket!
