Gifted Education is not an elective programme, hence its free.
GEP or not,you still need to pay the balance of the fees after $2400 subsidy. There's no longer full subsidy for GEP prog from MOE. The subsidy is capped at $2400. RI and RGS students need to pay $1200 per yr on their own. -

Has anyone made a comparison between HCI & RI and list down all the pros and cons for and against each school ?
Is the subject too sensitive to be commented upon ? lolZ -

I am also thinking of which of the two is better for my ds. But my ds don't like Chinese though his marks is not too bad...verykiasu2010:

Don't worry. HCI is a SAP school, which means that you take both of the subjects as 1st language. They not going to side towards Chinese/abandon English, they even adopted the Language arts syllabus for English.
I'm from HCI and my classmates' Chinese really suck. When I mean suck, i mean really suck. However, at the end of the year (take the seniors as examples) their chinese become really good and they get enthusiastic in it.
Oh, and HCI is larger than RI although it's building structure is a bit

so what is the compelling reason to choose RI ?
(this thread is on RI - so we should not digress to HCI ) -
emmm...just read thru programmes provide by RI and HCI at their websites...and it seems that they are providing slight different academy programmes ... so should find out more before choosing which school to go...

of course HCI has been emphasizing that they are not a chinese school - that we know. HCI is also strong in the humanities, bi-cultural program ...... so where is the difference ?
someone told me HCI focus a lot on character building, consensus building, humility, group before self.......and RI has a lot on rhetoric argument, robust debate (HCI is lacking in this or not?).....and of course no higher chinese
so what else ? -

Well, of course not. HCI has recently added something called Current affairs, or rather, expanded it from the sec 3 CSE to the lower sec, which allows the students to role play and debate about a particular topic.vlim:

Yes! Of course. Many parents have the aim of doing so! And furthermore HCI is less individualistic and it's more homely.
