Hi, can any parents share any good science tuition centre in the east area? Many thanks!
-
hi starrenee,
tuition centres cater to masses. they teach in groups & students tend to ‘socialize’ in class. they don’t focus on each child. so if your child has a worksheet or test on a particular topic which the centre has not taught, then your child will have to tackle it on his/her own. tuition centres take in students from various schools so they can’t cater to each child’s needs. hope this helps. -

I believe TNS do not organize any open house. At least none in the recent few years. -
thanks for the info…

Does anyone know if we can check the results of the Mid Year Exams as a whole level? Personally, I think some of the papers are very tough for my child, but I want to understand the performance as a whole level/ standard so that I can judge if my child needs remedial help or if the paper is set tougher than the usual, and she can still cope. Would want to reduce the need for tutors as much as possible.

You can always refer to the median for the class and level. Its in the report book. -
Do the kids get their report books after mid- years?

You could let the teacher know your concern during the PTM. If the whole level is not doing well, then the papers are consider as tough. -
DS got his report bk today. there was the class/level mean/median etc. his class did super well..he was very careless stress man..

imo it is important to have good understanding of P3 topics as P4 is basically an expansion of what is taught in P3, and the exams include those P3 topics.
Not too late to start revising with your child to help them understand the topics better. -
tankee:
Problem is DS understands the topics but he is very careless. He can miss out a full page, or \"waste\" 3-5 marks by forgetting to put a full-stop, capital letter after full-stop etc (the teacher deduct 1 marks for each of such mistakes. Or even have 6+5=21 in his working!!! I did a rough count, he can have at least 20+ marks more without such carelessness.imo it is important to have good understanding of P3 topics as P4 is basically an expansion of what is taught in P3, and the exams include those P3 topics.

Try all methods, asking him to check his work after he finished, etc but cant \"cure\" his carelessness. I can only console myself at least he understand all the concepts, and hopefully, he will outgrow his carelessness. -
