Additional information on this year's IB results for parents with children moving on to Year 5 and intending to take CLB at standard level:

333 YR 5 candidates sat for CLB paper in 2014.

Only 4 scored less than 7points.

So would it be better for the boys not to take HCL in Yr 1 - 4?

In my humble opinion, actually normal CL @ 'O'-level should suffice for a student to breeze thru CLB in year 5, but taking HCL @ 'O'-level will give the student an additional choice to pick up ab initio.

It is harder to achieve a 7-points for CLB in school exams &that's why the students were pleasantly surprised with today's results. šŸ™‚

Am I correct that students who take HCL at Yr 4, cannot take CLB in Yr 5? Still a bit hazy here. Do you know what the results are like for those taking ab initio?

You are not alone... I only got out of e \"haze\" when my son stepped into yr 5 last yr šŸ˜‰

Students who took HCL at yr 4 can still take CLB in yr 5. In fact, this is the majority.

Reason being, students taking CLB will get over with it by the end of yr 5 freeing up the periods for their extended essays, etc. but those on ab initio will only take their IB exams in yr 6.
