Should be no problem.One urgent question, tomorrow year1 boys are required to report to school by 7:15am, if my DS wants enter via gate15( the one along Bishan road) at around 7:00am, as he doesn't have the ezlink card to open the door, he has to follow seniors, does anyone know normally will there be lots seniors going via this gate around this time 7:00am? ( understand year2 boys go to Malaysia tomorrow)
My DS is that kind of always-worried boy and hate been scolded because of late

Hi RafflesianSnr, can I check with you is it very difficult to get into the String CCA? two times a week or three times a week for practice?
This is NN'S DS. String ensemble is twice a week, Monday's and Wednesdays. Might have some Friday practices nearing syf.
String ensemble is the only music cca requiring a music background (you don't have to know how to play a string instrument. You can audition with piano). I'm not too sure how hard it is to get in but if you play a string instrument, your odds should be pretty high. For reference, around 20 get in a year. -

Thanks a lot ngl2010 for your sharing! :)[/quote]YY1205.. DS1 played piano during the String Ensemble audition too. He was accompanying his friend, who played the violin. Both were offered the CCA..ngl2010:

Hi YY1205. I am not RafflesianSnr but just happened that DS had experience in String CCA audition. DS didn't have any experience at all in string instrument and Chinese Orchestra but was offered both CCAs. He has piano background. During the String CCA audition, he was asked to play piano (any piece, no score sheet) and had some aural questions and other questions.
I don't think there is core CCA in RI that doesn't need a lot of commitment. In fact, I think performing arts and UGs should be renamed as competitive performing arts and competitive uniform groups, just like competitive sports.
If your boy is keen to join an aesthetics CCA, he can go for a few auditions, eg. Guitar Essemble, Raffles Voices (Choir), Chinese Ochestra or Band. If more than one CCA shows interest to recruit your boy, he can rank them in order of preference, on his CCAs Option Form (sounds so familiar
)
The boys will be given info on the CCA Trail (venues & timings of the various trials / auditions) around 3rd week of January.. -

Thanks iFirefly! So it seems even a boy doesn't play any instrument before still get chance to be selected

BTW, Friday still need report to school, but is at 11:00am. Then in late evening parents will be invited for the Investiture ceremony. -
