Yes, certainly. For a P1 gal, I would get a simple, inexpensive, black-coloured digital wrist watch.

Did any parent notice from this year the banding of classes is based on their total score ? Was it by Maths/English alone previous years ? Anyone knows ?


Thinking that MOE is going to remove T score soon for PSLE & CHIJ using total score to band students in classes seems like a step away from MOE's vision.

Especially for girls weaker in mother tongue, now they end up in higher bands just because their total score is lower. Previously the girls even used to change classes for English & Maths if they have achieved lower bands for these particular subjects. Now if they are in band 2, or 4, they stay in it for \"all\" subjects.

I think Principle Mdm Chin should not just keep changing everything in the school just to show she is changing things & making something happen. Its good to be humble & retain what worked in Kellock from Ms Clara Lim's time.

Is that so? I suggest you ask the school teacher for clarification. I don't have any idea of this, or I would have asked my dd's class teacher.

To illustrate how student weak in MT can end up in higher bands


If score for eng = math = sci = above 90
But then MT only 50
Overall score gets pulled down tremendously & student gets banded wrongly into band 2 or 3 when in fact eng/math/sci she should have opportunity to learn with band 1 students
In fact in curent/new system even MT she is in wrong class. Coz if she is really weak then she should join band 5 for MT to learn at her own pace

Of course example is extreme above but point is student is banded incorrectly

This is an example of a student ending up in a lower band, not a higher one.
I agree that in this example, the student is banded incorrectly - but isn't that lower, rather than higher? Again, I am just trying to understand.
Do you have a specific student in mind? Was your dd banded incorrectly?

Hello everyone,


My daughter really enjoys the past 3 years at CHIJ Kellock. She is in P4 this year. As per last year, they are now required to choose a CCA again. She was in Brownies last year. After going through the list with her, we’ve decided that Brownies would be one of the 4 choices.

However, yesterday she came home with a letter from the school saying that she has been selected to be a member of the school’s P4 Netball CCA. And therefore will not be required to take part in the CCA selection.

The benefit of being a member of the school’s niche CCAs is rather appealing. However, I’m concerned if the practice sessions are long. She might be tired and worse she might not enjoy the CCA. And to me that defeats the purpose of joining a CCA in the first place.

Any parents here whose daughters are in the school netball team? I’d really appreciate your personal sharing and not just rely on the Niche CCA Tea Sessions with the school to be held in 2 weeks time. Many thanks.

I wish to know when kid join the enrichment program during P1, will there be school bus arrangement? Also, which is good? Tap dancing, rhythmic gym, artistic gymn, ballet & volin
