Think my DS may go for the IT Society. He is interested in multimedia. So might give that a shot.
But personally, I prefer the symphonic band. Find it pretty cool, especially the one playing the drums, like the one in the compo band. -

What is Cca leap talk?
Cca leap talk is about how to earn the cca bonus points. The boys should have brought back the booklet for the parents. It affects the sec 2 and sec 1. We felt there there are a lot more considerations to earn that 2 points.
Some key considerations :
* stay in the same cca throughout the 4 years
* maintain at least 75% attendance
* representing the school in competition etc
* leadership positions
* values in action -

We were kind of lost as not many parents. Actually felt alittle out of place until I met realwhiz.Any parents went to the tennis court to see the boys try out archery? I find it disorganized and honestly quite boring. Anti-climax.
I found the symphonic band a little more aggressive and interesting. They went around convincing the sec 1 to join. Quite funny actually. One actually looked at my DS lips and said yes, he can join. lol
Haha not to mention free coke and chocolates for boys interested in band. And yes, the lips determine the instrument

So does that mean max points given is just 2points?

Yes max 2 for cca. Hcl is another 2 points. So they can only use a max of 4 points to offset their score. The teacher mentioned helped in jc and poly. But it is the poly that I don't understand how it works. -
Just read the booklet, it is compulsory to include one UG and 1 performing arts in the 6 choices. Good, can force my DS to list down symphonic band and maybe St John Ambulance even though we did not see the St John booth today.

The number of estimated vacancies on the booklet may not be accurate. I spoke to the teacher in charge of archery, she said around 40. I spoke to the seniors in MITS, they said around 40 also. I asked the bunch of rowdy boys from band, they said 100!

For poly, it looks at L1R2B2.Hoya:

If get A1/A2 for CCA, can deduct 2 points from the L1R2B2
For example, if the student gets 10 points for L1R2B2 and an A1 for CCA, his nett score at O lvl is 8 points. That's why it is very important to do well in CCA. This will come in very useful when applying to the choice poly as the popular courses are very competitive. So getting an A in CCA helps. Every little bit counts.
(for those who are wondering,
L1 refers to EL
R2 means relevant 2 subjects that meets the course requirement
B2 means the remaining best 2 subjects) -
