      Hihi..

may I get some advice here??
May I check with fellow parents here, on whether Chinese Dance and Choir,
      is Crescent's niche cca?
My girl has been learning ballet with NAFA,taking RAD grade3 this yr,
should be able to progress to take RAD grade5 at P6..
& joined Chinese dance since p1..
      BUt considering changing CCA..

not sure is Chinese DAnce more favoured in Crescent?or Choir?
In terms of DSA & appeal cases 🙂 Anyone has any DSA/appeal experience to share?? Can PM me if preferred..

      Many thanks in advance!!

I believe Choir is one of the area that CGS is looking for in terms of DSA. However, I am unsure about chinese dance. You might want to monitor their dsa application criteria to get a good feel of their requirements.

To be successful in the dsa/ shortlist (based on our experience), i believed they are looking for girls whose academic results is decent. Maybe as a rule of thumb, target at least 75% for P5 and P6 overall results. Note that this is not explicitly stated in their criteria. Some schools do while others don't. But good if the child has those edusave awards to prove it.

Besides academic, our observation is leadership experience in the cca and their ability to perform under the respective cca.

I can’t comment which are their niche CCAs or the DSA criteria.

But CGS Visual and Performing Arts (Chinese & Modern Dance and Choir included) were awarded distinctions in past SYFs, pretty consistently. That will reflect the amount of focus, rigour and dedication that both the teachers and students have invested to maintain that level of quality/standard.

You may want also to browse youtube to see some of these past performances. It gives one a good feel on the amount of time and expectations as well.

Just my two cents worth ..

            hi MMM & NextGenDaddy,

thanks a lot for your info+views:)
still cannot decide whether should let DD continue Chinese Dance or change to Choir..Both CCAs in her current pri school achieved Distinction/Gold for SYF & also participated & won Gold in overseas competitions..
Choir instructor is Lim Bee Na since Yr 2000(heard she is very good)..

Wonder which CCA is better for DSA?
& under performing arts, audition will be conducted 🙂
Anyone has relevant experience to share?:)

            Thanks in advance!!

I think the girls will need to bring blouse regardless of it being assembly day or not :imcool:
              Fold neatly maybe?

                :nailbite: Parents and Crescentians,

Perhaps I should have been more attentive during the P's address last night but want to check with you the acronyms please if you could enlighten me:

                - LSCEP
                - S1CEP
                - FITT
Thanks much (these are from their timetable).
Gentle reminder next week is even week - follow the correct timetable! :nailbite:

Dd wears blouse over pe tshirt. She will put her blouse over the chair so it doesn't get crumpled. It also avoid the situation of forgetting to bring her blouse.

LSCEP = lower sec computer education program
s1csp = sec 1 chinese special program (for students not studying Cl)
                    Fitt = twice a week excercise - 1 run & 1 aerobics

I really am quite annoyed by the flatulent use of acronyms or abbreviations. My daughter came back after orientation and fired across a host of TLAs (Three Letters Acronyms) = just for the sake of it… which I went WTH. What’s alarming is, this seems habitual amongst the pupils and native to schools in Singapore where it’s customary acceptable for school curriculum. I forbids her or son from using them at home. And I hope we can shake this off… Sigh

Cool it 😂 Well... it's not just schools, multinational companies also use alot of acronyms that they have to organise a training to train people on acronyms. So yes, we are preparing them for the future. 😉
