Cca not free :

have to pay a small nominal sum to the coach / trainer per year, depend on which Cca u choose.
Usually below $ 200, per year (Term 1 to Term 4)

for P1 -
apart from Band Cca (occupy 3 hrs of Training per week, from 9 am to 12 join), all other Cca only need 2 hr : start from 10 am to 12 noon.
Fall on either Tue or Thur.

No school bus Transport, for P1 / P2 Cca.

normally, children have breakfast at home, before start Cca 10 am.

Since no school bus Transport -
Usually, you see a lot of grandparents or maids / helper fetch them to school, driving & drop them off at the school round-about, in front of the school porch via Gate 1, around 9.50 am.

Cca end normally 5 minutes, before 12 noon.

Some parents pack lunch box meal, for their daughter, to eat at canteen. Some put food inside a small thermos flask, to keep the food warm still by 12 noon.

Other parents have helper to bring their kids outside nearby to eat, at Ghim Moh hawker centre.
Other children may eat lunch inside the canteen, chit chat, before 12.30 pm ready to go up for Assembly.

Checking with p2 parents, last year at p1 any of your dd did sports based cca ? Wondering how you manage 10-12pm cca then to hall at 12.30pm. How did you manage lunch ? Kids be sweaty and tired ? Would you be able to bring lunch in ? TIA

I am keen to send my girl to RGPS

we actually stayed in the east but will travel and hopefully we get selected for PV

I wanted to ask re the teachers, that is are they helpful or the good schools teachers are expecting parents to do most of the teachings already ( that’s what I heard)

My P2 girl is going to have swimming lessons for PE soon.

Trying to get her for kid's goggle with degree.

Anybody knows where in Singapore to get them?

P2 Swimming during PE (Physical exercise) -
start in February, 2015. (Term 1)

Nine P2 classes (2A to 2I) : swim on different days.
Check your class timetable.
It will fall on that day where you see 2 or 3 Timeslot made available, for PE lessons.

School bus chartered will bring the children to and fro, Clementi public pool.
note that swimming during PE : is only for Term 1 to Term 2 only.
It will not drag into Term 4.

Swimming during PE, is only for one level only : P2.
P3 to P6 : no more swimming during PE, but be exposed to some other Sports game, instead.

Eg :
for P3 -
Pupils get to learn to play Basketball, during PE.

The idea behind :
is to expose pupils to as many different type of Sports as possible, so that come P4 when Cca become compulsory, the girls can decide which Cca they want, if involve Sports.

Parent Volunteers (PV) will chaperone the girls there, together with Form Tr, PE Tr.
When reach the pool :
PV supervise the girls, to change from their school uniform into swim suit, before the girls squeal with delight excitedly in fun, dip into the cool water.

At the pool -
There will be professional swimming coaches, to teach them how to swim.
For P2s who do not know how to swim, no need to bring float.
The coach / Trainer will provide.

After swimming -
girls may feel hungry, or feel cold.
Parents may prepare a small thermos flask of hot milo, to keep them warm, let them drink.
Or pack some ham / tuna sandwiches or finger licking food, for them to munch on their way back to school, inside the chartered school bus.

Pupils who have very long hair (fall below the waist) & do not know how to plait their own hair, or may not have the time to plait their hair neatly after the swim, may consider cut their hair short, for ease of maintenance.

The pupil doesn't need to know how to swim, in order to join Swimming Cca. Beginners are most welcome to learn

We will divide the girls into group(s), according to their ability :-
- beginner
- intermediate
- advanced

The professional swimming coaches will assess them first, teach them -
free style, back stroke, frog style.
(not sure if got butterfly stroke, for Advanced)
Depending on their capability : at the last swimming lesson in Term 4, they will be assessed.
If they pass the swimming Test, will get the swimming certificate.

There will be chartered school bus, to bring the girls there, to and Fro.
Parents may also bring child directly to the Clementi swimming pool, if they wish. Parents can bring them there, or send them to school.
Reach the pool before 10 am, Thursday.

Swimming Cca start 10 am punctually, learn for One hour, end at 11 am.
After that, school bus will bring them back to school.

Total costs fees for Swimming Cca (Term 1 to Term 4) paid per year, to coaches, is very reasonable.

Swimming is an important life skill
Is good to start early
