Unlike secondary school cca dsa, jc dsa is quite exclusive. you have to be very good to dsa sports. the number is very small.

      DD's friend with ESIP 8-4=4.

ok ok .... so it seems the odds are not so good this year. but those whom i knew got esip and put ri as 1st choice last year got in.
you'll have to try to know .... i know one kid thought she'll never get into ri with 4 but still put as first choice. she got in. 3 points is for science. I think not all will opt for science right?[/quote]Did she appeal to get in or she was posted by jae?

            turnthisup:
May I know whether if there is anyone who got posted to a JC under arts stream but took sci stream subjects when choosing his/her subject combination?

Don't think it's possible. Unless you're successful in appealing to transfer to Science stream.

Right or not, only alumni from there would know. A lot of people only imagine it to be the Right JC for their DC. πŸ˜‚ πŸ¦†

what are the chances for top 5% get into RI?

                RI Open house today :
                Q & A :
                someone asked P -
\"how many places left available for JAE students, after minus off the IP (RI boys + RGS girls) from Y4, entering into Y5 ? \"

Total : 1200 \"A\" level students, in RI

reply : around 250 will be admitted, from JAE (O level Joint Admission exercise)

                Qn 2
                Someone else asked P -
\"Do they place JAE students together with IP students, in the same class, or separate them : meaning IP students go Y5 IP class, while JAE students go Y5 JAE class ?\"

                reply :-
Classes are grouped, according to the Subject combination that Y5 students take : IP students mixed together with JAE students, for the same Subject combination.

                Qn 3
                another parent asked P -
                \"For \"A\" level Sciences :
                H2 Chemistry is compulsory.
So, how many do H2 Physics, how many do H2 Biology ?\"

                reply :-
                500 take H2 Physics, another 500 take H2 Biology.
H2 Chemistry is common subject, for those taking Physics or Bio.

                Qn 4
                One student asked P -
\"I want to do 5 subjects, want to take 5 H2 subjects instead of 4 H2 subjects, because I want to do Triple Science (pure Physics, pure Chem, pure Bio). Is this allowed ? \"

                reply :-
No more Triple Science allowed in RI, because need one contrasting Arts subject.

                Chemistry is compulsory.
Either take Chemistry with Physics, or Chemistry with Bio.

Thank you for sharing the info.

It looks like its really hard for non IP students to break into top IP schools. After studying so hard for o levels and conquering so many different variety of challenging subjects and achieving 3 or 4 points only to find out you are not good enough to qualify. A lot of them will regret not studying harder for PSLE where there are only 4 subjects and get into IP.

As an alumni from RJC, I have to say it is a quite competitive school... Imagine a school where people would literally cry if their A level results were 3A and 1B. And there will be a lot of \"superhuman\" classmates who are strong in studies, CCA, diploma in piano and violin, sports all at the same time!

Students who are used to being at the top of the cohort would need to adjust their mindset a bit. At RJC it is no longer about competing with others, just do your personal best it will be good enough. Even a student \"below average\" in RJC, e.g. maybe at the 30th-40th percentile, is highly likely to get 4As in the A levels.

Just to encourage those who may be struggling in RJC, it is a place with a lot of \"hard truths\" even for those who are lucky enough to get in.

The ranking is something like that:

                      6-4=2 can go anywhere.
                      6-3 =3
                      7-4=3
                      6-2=4
                      7-3=4
So it depends how many students in each category, which varies each year.

Hi I’m thinking off appealing to meridian cause I got 14 points n aft bonus pts it’s 12. I’ve heard tht some jcs will just take a nett score (by just taking the max 4 points off) so does anyone know if meridian does tht or which JCs do tht? Thks in advance!
