Hi All, can someone share more about Catholic JC here ? My son scored 9 points net and wish to read science ...can give comments about this school ...been hearing that this school the pupils party not so serious ...3 goes in 2 come out that kind ...how is the A levels result so far ...Please help me to understand the school culture better ...comparing with St Andrew?
Two friends' kids went in and one qualified for Ivy League while the other got into Yale nus.
Oh thanks you are referring to your friend's kid reading science at Catholic right ... not truth about the culture so bad right ...
help please need someone been there or still at Catholic JC to share
Thanks a zillion :thankyou: -
for 9 points, try MJC. CJC is good in arts but not as strong in science. % alevel distinction for h2 math is below average and half the cohort failed the 2014 h2 math promo. about 100 people retained in year 1 out of population of 700.
MJC teachers are very hard working. Their H2 math notes are very good and they compiled lots of practice questions and sorted them into low, medium, high level. -

MJC is indeed a good school in terms of achieving results but their method is very rote learning. their students dont seem to excel beyond JC.

Thatโs the problem. Every school has pro and con, every school seems good, we are unable to decide. Headache.

If pros and cons are about equal, then I would go by other criteria - distance, available CCAs, where the students' friends are going, colour and style of uniforms... There is no perfect school, and it really boils down to what a student makes of a school. -

Actually, there's a perfect school for my dd - I see as perfect fit for her. It's also her dream sch. Too bad, she is 2 pts shy of cop. We have decided to move on to her next best choice.
Now, the reality of that 2 useful bonus pts from HMT sets in. If I can turn back the clock, wld I want my kids to take up HMT even though I know how much they dislike it? I think I'll still not want them to take it up.

But if the reality is that if higher mothers tongue is necessary for entry into that dream school, then the kids have to take it. Just like medicine is bitter but no matter how you dislike it just have to take it if the disease is to be cured. If don't take, then just have to continue dreaming of the dream school.slmkhoo:

You can try appealing? If her overall grades are excellent and she's just short of the 2 bonus points, her case may be considered.slmkhoo:
