The enrichment classes which u sent him to are for P5 or P6? So fast can do PSLE papers :scared:Puzz...zzle:
Hi parents, is it better to do P6 top sch exam papers or Psle 5 /6 years series?
I hearsay that if lack of time, just do NYPS and RGPS papers will suffice + PSLE past yr papers.
I intend to let my P5 ds do those PSLE papers starting this Dec hols. -
iRabbit:
Haha , I blur blur. Happy Weekends all.
Your dotter is already a doc! :scared: :yikes:MyPillow:
My dc sch compulsory supp/ remedial class is in P4 (twice weekly) P5 , P6 (thrice weekly). I agree it is very tiring and I cannot give doc more home revision too
Items covered can be extension of curriculum lessons , newspaper review,
Or working thru assessment which sch ask the students to buy.
Dc sch actually band the students according to each subject grade, Eg a child in 6A may attend Math in 6.2 . Thus the disparity in maths for students in class is smaller n kids can progress along similar pace. Even the assessment bk also diff for diff classes to suit ability of kids
P1 to P3 are by special invitations only for weaker students .

But no intention to attempt any past year papers. Will save that for school teachers to drill in p6 -

So is it a good school?Reading some of the posts I think DD's school is rather laid back, contrary to the impression people have of the school. DD did not have any supp classes until she was in P4 and each session was only 1hr. Even then, the supp classes were only once a week for maybe 2 terms, not for all 4 terms. Until now in P6, her homework is manageable. Ok, too little in my opinion. Come to think of it, during niece's time in the school, she also had very little homework and did not have to stay back in school much.
Talking to parents of some of my ex students, I hear them saying that their kids' workload is unbelievable. Homework everyday. They show me their kids tingxie and I almost fainted. I hear of P1 and P2 kids having supp classes. I look at my nephew's work and I wonder, what are these schools trying to prove? Is there some deliberate attempt for top schools to back off and the rest of the schools to go supernova academically?
Joke aside, often we choose to ignore the social background of the kids when we talk about the performance of a primary school... Perhaps for the sake of complaining.
But the truth is that most of the kids from your school are already attending external enrichment and so there's no need to further load them. There's are no fear of them wasting their time coz the parents know how to keep them occupied. -

You could be right. But from what I am hearing from my ex-students most of them are also attending all sorts of enrichments or tuition outside of school. That seems to be the norm these days. It is not just the amount of work that the schools seem to be churning out but the challenging nature of it. Parents feel compelled to put their kids in tuition and enrichments because they feel that their kids are not able to cope with the school work. -

Kids who can afford to go to your school... Sure can afford tuition!!
