Any idea if school have start calling successful PV applicants for interview?
If you're inquiring for your daughter -
it is wiser to enrol her into NYPS under Phase 1 sibling : since NYPS is affliated to NYGH, at slightly above 250.
over here, come P6 -
many parents feel very stressed : preparing our daughters for Psle, because Rgps not affliated to Rgs Secondary.
Many parents like their dd to study in Rgps, but we don't like the fact that we are not affliated.
Eg
If say get 251, our dd cannot enter Rgs Sec, if enter by Phase 2 Psle T-score : because Rgs minimum Cut off point hover around 26x.
Unless can enter by Phase 1 (Dsa) : which is also not easy, because Dsa is so competitive
But if you're inquiring on behalf of your friend's daughter -
shortlisted Parent Volunteer applicants will be contacted for interview, sometime in Term 2 (after March) -
EHIH:
The standard of some neighborhood primary schools in terms of churning out quality Psle results, are now catching up with some of the Gep centre, if just compare the Mainstream part.Hi all
I am keen to send my girl to RGPS
we actually stayed in the east but will travel and hopefully we get selected for PV
I wanted to ask re the teachers, that is are they helpful or the good schools teachers are expecting parents to do most of the teachings already ( that's what I heard)
thank you all in advance for the helpful replies
(ignore the Gep part)
In the east, there are quite a few good schools like Kong Hwa, Maha Bodhi, Poi Ching, Gongshang, Ngee Ann, Red Swastika, Temasek, Haig Girls, CHIJ Katong Convent, White Sands, Tampines, besides Tao Nan, St Hilda primary. They are nearer your house.
The school bus fare, from Rgps to the east, can be costly, exceeding beyond $250 per month, because it is very far, and also reach home late.
In fact, there are P1 / P2 pupils that stay in Tampines, Pasir Ris, reach home after 8 pm, by school bus.
In order to alleviate this burden of reaching home late, what some parents stay far away Do is that they ask School bus driver to drop off their daughter somewhere half way after the Pan island expressway, then their parents drive their children home themselves. And they have to do this routine daily, come rain or shine.
This way, the poor child can reach home earlier, than if they were to take school bus direct, to their door step.
Distance is important, when choosing a suitable primary school.
after shift back to Hillcrest premises next year 2016 single session -
There is a new built in student care centre, within Rgps premises.
Maximum capacity : 50 students
In fact, some P2 parents now have been asking eagerly :-
whether got any built in student care centre ready for us next year after school shift back to Hillcrest ?
The current renovation done at Hillcrest is just extension of a new building with 4 new storey high.
They did not tear down all the old building, and then build from scratch, all over again. So, the old building still remain. -
phtthp:
Nah, not for my DD. She is counting down everyday to join her bro

Total : 1800 students (P1 to P6)
Start time : 7.40 am
End time : 1.40 pm
Lunch : 1.40 pm - 2.20 pm

Parents to give feedback to Form Tr, if agreeable to start school at 7.30 am, or 7.40 am, or 8 am (for those staying very far, from Rgps. Eg : staying in Woodlands, Sembawang, Seletar, Pasir Ris, Tampines, etc)
School collating feedback now, from all parents P1 to P6 : what is the best optimal time, to start single session next year (2016) ?
New Student Care Centre (SCC), may operate inside Rgps school premises, in 2017.
Maximum intake for SCC : 50 students, only. (out of 1800 students)
Those keen may find out what selection criteria, for SCC.
After shift back to Hillcrest -
National Junior College (NJC) students, NYGH students, RGPS students will share the same stretch of Dunearn Road, with many cars turning in.
Traffic police will install a Traffic light for us, let Rgps primary school students, cross the road, turn into the road. To ease the Traffic woe.
The starting time for NJC is also around the same time, as us : around 7.40 am.
Hence, expect traffic jam to be bad, after shifting back.
NJC suggest that we remain in Mount Sinai, don't shift back.
But school reply that Hillcrest is our permanent home, so must shift back. -
To clarify.
for last year (2014) Psle results -
\"Kiasu parents\" forum reported that the highest Top score achieved for Rgps, was 273, as been indicated here, found on page 49 :-
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum ... &start=480
On page 1 : #134 (275) was reported
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum ... 69&t=80631
However, after the Parents' meeting with Principal, school confirmed that the figures, are inaccurate.
But school unable to disclose : according to Moe ruling that primary schools not supposed to reveal the highest Top score. -
for the new Student Care Centre coming up in 2017 Semester 2 (after July), it houses 50 students (maximum capacity), close at 6 pm (not 7 pm)
does anyone know :-
- who run this Centre ?
is it run by an external Operator, or run by our own Rgps school ?
- what selection criteria apply :
to pick 50 students, out of 1800 students ? -
